I use my micro camera to record operations on my HO scale model railroad. It allows me to video a trip around my model railroad as if I were actually on a train at track level. Te Kuus device was exactly what I was looking for. I recorded a 15 minute trip around the railroad and was pleased with the ease of operation and the clear video from the Kuus camera. At first I was disappointed that there was no sound, but I dropped an email to the service department and learned that I had simply neglected to turn on the sound on my video software. Good mini spy camera, with some limitations. Pros: Good video quality (especially for the camera size), good motion detection, excellent night vision, easy to hide. Cons: small viewing angle, short USB charging cable. The most frustrating issue was the viewing angle. Although advertised as 140⁰, the actual angle is only 20-40⁰. When it records, the quality of the video and the sound is really quite good for such a small device. Note that this does not work over Wi-Fi. It only works by recording onto a microSD card (one is included). For the price, if you are looking for a quick camera setup, this will work fine. I like that even though it has indicator lights, those lights do not go on while recording. However, this does have night vision ability, and those lights will indeed go on if it's dark where you are recording. The most frustrating part (and the reason for my lower rating) is that I find the instructions to be confusing. You can record continuously, or you can set it to record when the camera detects motion. But it is really difficult to know which one it is set to, and how to switch between those modes. Maybe I'm just not good at interpreting the (sparse) instructions, but I've found that it's a bit of guesswork to get it to record the way I want. Read more
I tried it two different ways, with two different units & memory cards (It will not work, at all, without a card). First, as I usually do, without reading the manual to see how intuitive an item's use is. Couldn't get it to work. It turned on, switched modes, etc.; but when connected to a computer, nothing. I connected it to a second computer, the same. I read the manual, same results. I was granted an exchange and had the same results. Unfortunately, those are my results. I'm no tech. illiterate. For a self-contained 0.9” cube camera with night vision, constant or motion detection modes, audio recording, and powered for “maybe” 90 minutes via the internal lithium-ion battery, this device really does a lot and does it well. The USB micro port to the USB-A connector cable is used for charging and viewing/copying the .avi files when connected to a computer. The computer USB port will charge the camera while files are being viewed or copied but the camera will not record when connected to a computer. Using an external power bank will keep the camera recording indefinitely with the 32GB storage over-written with the latest clips when full, about two hours. Video clips of about 5 minutes each in constant record mode, about 3 minutes in motion detect before the next clip is seamlessly created. I found the instruction booklet very confusing but the on-line YouTube video is excellent. I suggest playing with the various options and learn the meaning of the blue & red LEDs as nothing is displayed when in operation, obviously no screen but also no LEDs. They only show the mode being selected (blue=constant, red=motion detect) and when the camera is first powered-up or shut-down. Overall, a very good mini camera at an excellent price. Read more
