This is a decent book bag. It is definitely lightweight. The material is fairly thin; the stitching is good. It would make a good gym bag or just a general carry all. I would not recommend it for a laptop unless you already have some kind of padding for it before you put it in the pack. There is no padding in this pack at all and the shoulder straps, though nice and wide, are not padded either. If you carry a lot of weight in it the straps may become a little uncomfortable. For an inexpensive backpack, this one is fine. It obviously isn't going to be as durable as an expensive one, and it doesn't have all the different pockets, but it is perfectly adequate for a younger kid's school backpack or for a gym bag. The fabric is a little stiff and has a strong smell. I had to leave it out of the bag for several days before the smell dissipated. If you are looking for a quality backpack this does not hold up to expectations. It is paper thin and the zipper is very stiff. I would not try to use it for anything heavy duty. For the size of the main pocket I can put in a change of clothes (not including shoes) but i dare not put much more than that in it for fear it feels like it would fall apart. It could be useful for a small child's first backpack as they typically would only have papers and maybe a snack or toy in it. So it's definitely an inexpensive choice for a short term solution.
