I needed something to hold desktop calendar cards I was gifting and these were perfect. The slot was just the right size to hold 7 sheets of card stock at once (3.5 x 5 inch sheets). The wood is an unfinished pine, smooth, without any noticeable imperfections. These are small enough and light weight enough that they would tip over if you tried to use even a full size sheet of card stock, but work very well for smaller items. Read more
