New laptops drive me crazy with only 1 or 2 USB ports. Seems I am constantly unplugging something to plug something else in. I carry a small USB hub in my bag for work but my wife needed a USB hub for her laptop which is her day to day workstation. I tested this on all three laptops and a desktop. It worked perfectly with all of them. I tested plugging multiple devices into the hub with no conflicts or speed issues. Not sure a 5 foot cable is needed but it could come in handy at some point. Only connects devices as a USB 2.1 hub, not 3.0. Does not provide advertised speeds, only connects at 480mb. Weirdly, it reports that it is both a 3.1 and 2.1 hub, but devices only connect to the 2.1 hub part of it. Read more

It's a usb hub. All the ports are the higher speed blue version. It's the right size to plug 4 cables in without being bulky. The main transfer cord from the hub to the computer is about 6 feet long, which is long enough to put your drives on a different shelf than your computer on your Desk. Seems to be well built and sturdy. I used it to consolidate external usb drives so their cords all come to one point to plug into my laptop so the hard drives can stay on the desk when the laptop goes. It frees up computer ports. Worked without issues and was faster at transferring files than my decades old usb hub. I dunno what else there is to say about it. That's all you can ask of a product so it's a good value. Product arrived as pictured so no surprises. The extra long cable is handy if you are connecting to a computer/laptop at a distance, and performance is good for any low power device. If connecting any high power devices such as portable hard drives, or multiple devices you may need to utilize the USB-c connection on the hub to supply extra power, which unfortunately does eliminate a 2nd port on your computer (you could use a power adapter as well). It is lightly built so won't take a lot of abuse, cable is thin, which is both good and bad since it isn't likely to be as durable as I'd like a portable hub to be, but at the same time is lighter and takes up less space which is desirable. One of the thigs about modern laptops is that they skimp on the USB ports. This extender is the solution! I was impressed by its build quality. I feels sturdy, not cheap or plasticky. Despite its solid build, its very light, and doesn't take much room in my laptop bag. I do put it in a Ziploc bag to avoid any crumbs etc. from getting into the ports. It's super easy to use: simply plug it in, and you laptop recognizes four more USB 3.0 ports. Even though I connected my externa, portable hard drive, I didn't need the USB-C power. I guess it depends on how much the hard drive is pulling, but mine didn't need the extra juice. It greatly expands the functionality of my laptop without having to deal with drivers, etc. I also tested the connection speed, and it transfers data as fast as if the hard drive was connected directly to my laptop. I wasn't familiar with this brand but am very impressed. You get great value for the money. Read more

This USB hub is well-constructed. It has a solid feel to it. The wire is much longer than most USB hubs of this type, so it gives me a LOT of flexibility when adding additional ports to my under-desk tower PC. I am able to use double-stick tape (not included) to affix it to my physical desktop surface so that I can easily plug-in memory sticks and flash-drives without having to crouch to reach my PC. There is a small "pilot light" on the USB hub to indicate that it's connected and that it is being powered by your computer's USB port. The wire is vinyl coated. It has a substantial feel and heft to it... not thin, not flimsy. The wire is also reinforced with "strain relief" where it enters the hub's box, and at the USB-A plug itself. There is an ADDITIONAL input on the hub itself to allow you to ADD a power supply (optional, not included) to provide power whenever you have plugged in a device needing extra power (ie: more than your ordinary USB can handle) such as an external hard drive, etc. The ports are clearly marked with a blue "tongue" to remind you that they're USB3 compliant. The ports themselves have a snug feel and it requires gentle force to insert and remove your USB plugs. This is a comforting feature because I can rest assured that an accidental bump or rattle won't dislodge the USB device at a critical moment (ie: when writing or copying data) and cause an error. Overall, I'm very pleased with this. In addition to using it with memory sticks (mostly). There is plenty of room to plug in multiple memory sticks side-by-side (standard size flash drives.) it performs well with an external hard drive (powered separately) and I had no issues. Also, I've observed no issues with heat. It remains cool even after long periods of use. This deserves 5 stars from me. Read more
