Nice Blu Ray player: Works well, flexible charging and connection
I've been enjoying this Gonavidio Blu Ray player. I've had portable DVD players before, but two things annoyed me: being unable to play Blu Rays, and not having HDMI connectivity. This player takes care of both of those concerns. The HDMI connection means it's easy to plug into a hotel television, or just use it as a home Blu Ray device. The remote works well and covers all the essential functions. The player is also a good size, big enough to enjoy the picture but light enough to take traveling. It works well on a plane, better than a laptop in my view, given its lighter weight. Its charge capability is also good; I haven't run it more than a few hours on a charge, but it's never shown any problems here. It's supposed to have a five-hour capacity, which may well be the case. The picture is good, as you'd expect fro Blu Ray; no problems here, and definitely sharper than equivalent DVDs. The screen size is good, large enough to enjoy a movie. I tried DVDs here and they play well, but if you have Blu Rays, that's the way to go. I like that the screen can be rotated and tilted, but I think this remains pretty much a device for an individual, not a group...except maybe the person next to you on the plane, who can share the screen without difficulty. The various accessories work well. Like most portable players, it comes with both a wall charger and a car plug-in charger. I'd prefer having USB-C capability for each, but these chargers work well, though. The player's sound is pretty good for this kind of device, but I prefer to plug in headphones or an input-equipped Bluetooth speaker. I wish the player itself had Bluetooth capability to allow for a wider range of portable speakers, which is the main (minor) negative I'd say about this device. The USB capability is also nice, since at times I'd prefer to have the movie on a flash drive instead of carrying discs around. The main question might be, why not just take a laptop? For me, I often want to escape the laptop's call to work, which this player permits; it's not going to let you get back on that spreadsheet. It also (obviously) has Blu Ray capability, which my laptop doesn't (without an external Blu Ray drive, anyway). It's also very portable in being lightweight, which is nice. Overall, it's a good player for anyone still in the optical disc world who wants a good picture and with the connections (HDMI, USB) that are useful. Good product. Read more
