16 leather messenger bag laptop case office briefcase gift for men computer distressed shoulder bag

This bag fit my 15.4" Macbook Pro nicely. I looked a similar bags that were $20 less, but decided on this because the shoulder strap had a swivel snap connector and the front had one big pocket instead of smal pockets with buckles, which I thought would allow more flexibility and less bother. The quality is pretty good overall. Goat leather is thin compared to cowhide, but it seems thicker on this bag because in most places it is attached to a canvas layer, and straps have two layers of leather sewn together to give a normal thickness strap. The only places where I'm a bit dubious are the leather parts that are attached to the top of the bag and pass through the brass loops, and the similar leather loops to the side hardware to hold the shoulder strap. Because the leather is a loop in those places, it is only one thickness and seems too thin, and since the weight of the bag is carried at these points, they would have been wiser to use a double thickness at those points. I'm guessing it will be okay for years, but I suppose after some use the leather could tear there. It did have some odor and some protective grease on the metal hardware, but good grief, if somebody can't take 1 minute to wipe off the protective grease with a paper napkin then they should just grow up. The only other improvement I could think of would be to have some kind of top closing devise for the big front pocket, perhaps a velcro strip or snap. It is a good looking bag, no scratches or scars, leather matching pretty well, hardware parts were sufficient (but the strap hardware was different than the photo shows, different kind of snap, but perhaps a bit nicer than the one in the photo). If the leather holding the top handle and the loops for the shoulder strap had been thicker, this bag would be just about top notch. Nothing to feel self conscious about. Rating this 4 stars only because I just got it today and there is single layer leather stitching in some places. This could turn out to be trash after a couple months but hopefully not. Right out of the box, it's a great looking bag. I used some leather conditioner right away and that really helped even out the color, smell, and feel. PLENTY of space for computer, tablet, paperwork, etc. I'll try to come back and give an updated review after a few months but if it holds up, this is a great school or business option for the price. Holy COW! Or should I say, holy GOAT. I had never owned a leather product before, but when I opened it I just had to review immediately. This bag is stunningly sturdy, beautiful, rugged, LEATHER-y, and just hands down the most amazing quality. Just wow. The leather felt like animal skin, and not to get so Leatherface-y on you, but it feels so GOOD. It smells like goat. It is rugged. It is professional. It looks classy and adventurous. It looms on the large side as well, so there is plenty of storage space. Never thought animal skin could feel so good. For the price, you simply cannot beat this product. My only gripe is the strap -- the strap comes in two halves which are locked together by buckles. You have to undo the buckles, attach both parts of the straps with their buckles to each side of the metal rings, and slip on the shoulder pad on one of them, and then join the straps together with the big buckle and strap in the middle. It was slightly confusing but it's a no-brained. They should have included instructions. However, when you adjust the strap to be short, the remainder of the strap is left hanging through the shoulder pad, kind of like a loose string, and there's no way to secure it so it just flops around. Let me start by saying I had this monogrammed. It did not come with the purchase. This product is VERY cheaply made. All metal parts are greasy and sticky. Stitches pulled from holes. Punch holes aren't even. The front of the bag closes at an angle, not straight. The front cover is uneven. The metal parts on sides to hold the straps are sewn in with different materials...one thick, the other is thin and flimsy. Strings had to be cut everywhere. A CREASE down the front pocket. It's a decent bag. Large size and fits my laptop and books. The bag itself is fairly heavy though, to the point it's a bit uncomfortable. I would give it 4 stars but the strap hinges broke on me almost immediately which makes it irritating to use as I am only left with the top handle. I wish I could find a replacement strap... All metal parts had some type of grease on them and the stitching in the shoulder strap was unraveling. Also, the shoulder pad was not included. I did not use the product and immediately began the return process. The bag was otherwise decent looking but due to the grease and lack of a pad, I was afraid it would soil my clothing and did not want to use, plus the stitching coming out of it (why would they even pack it with that defect???) made me very concerned about how well it would last.
