The reason I bought an mp3 player is that I travel solo, and playing music on my phone kills the battery. When I travel, I want to reserve my phone for navigation and contacting people, and my ipod nano is too old to be recognized by itunes, so I can't add or remove music to it. So I bought the mp3. I'm really happy with this mp3 player so far. The instruction booklet seems like the English came from google translate, but there's enough to understand how to work the player. I was able to connect it to wifi with no problem and to set the lock screen pass code. It comes with a bunch of apps already installed, plus the playstore so you can add additional ones if you want. I tested the player with my corded earbuds, my blue tooth earbuds, a speaker with a jack, and with chromecast to my tv. All worked perfectly. The sound quality was good on all 4. The player came with about 80% charge, and I played it for about 8 hours, at which point there was a 29% charge left. That's more than adequate for my purposes. I recharged it, and that worked fine. I didn't experience any issues with lagging or buffering during use. Also, the player did not get hot at any point. I will say that the onscreen keyboard is small (due to the size of the player). Rotating the player sideways helps a bit with that so it expands length-wise. But if you have large fingers, you may want to use a stylus. I also have not attempted to upload any files because I don't have any to upload. I think this player is well worth the price. Read more

Well... To me, at least. I've tried five budget touchscreen mp3 players this year (three of them Android-based), and the KeenPlus C1 SE is by far my favourite -- it's not perfect, but it gets the important things right. What you don't get: - Fancy audio hardware. If you're looking for dual DACs, Snapdragon processors, balanced outputs, etc., you'll have to spend more. - Audio routing via USB. Output is limited to the 3.5mm jack; USB-C earbuds and USB DACs are not recognized even after digging through the settings and Developer Options. What you do get: A tiny phone-like device without the usual smartphone bits like cellular capability and cameras, but with Android OS and with enough processing power for competent music streaming via wifi or local playback. What I like best about the KeenPlus is its form factor -- while a lot of players simply look like scaled-down phones, the tall and skinny shape of the C1 SE makes it more pocketable and makes it ideal as a music-centric device (it also reminds me of my well-loved 18-year-old Samsung player, albeit in shape only). Next, despite running an earlier version of Android as budget players often do, this one is as true to the OS as I've seen -- the gesture navigation of newer Android is missing (this was expected), but the older three-button navigation bar (Back, Home, Recents) can be summoned with a swipe-up action and hidden again with its down arrow. I mention this because a lot of budget players make up their own navigation (sometimes via hardware buttons) and it's never as good and is often frustrating. Comparatively, the KeenPlus is a joy to use. Access to the Google Play Store is available by default -- I have another player that actively blocks app installations from anywhere, and it's garbage as a result, so this is important. A lot of the included apps are AOSP or AOSP-based (Music app, Keyboard, and a customized version of Launcher3 as the home screen) but can be changed at-will by installing the alterative apps of your choice, which is great, because... I don't like the Music app or Launcher3, so I went to the Play Store and substituted them with Poweramp Pro (a paid music player app) and Olauncher (a free launcher). Despite the low RAM (by current Android phone standards), the KeenPlus runs both of these apps perfectly, and now delivers the experience I've been hunting for all year: A clean home screen, proper navigation, and a fully-customizable music app in a pocketable music player than can hold my music files and support my wired headphones without any silly adaptors. With this setup, I can get over 18 hours of listening on a single charge, which is enough for the most challenging of travel days, and saves my phone's storage space and battery. The only thing keeping this player from perfection for me is the lack of USB audio routing when the OS is capable of supporting it -- it would have made an awesome budget rig paired with my Fiio Q3. Nevertheless, it truly is my current favourite, and I'm happy to recommend it if you want the flexibility to install the apps to turn it into the player that is right for you. Read more

This is pretty much a smartphone without the cell phone capabilities. It comes with a bunch of audio and video apps but you can add any other app from the Google Play Store. This allows you to turn it into a mini Android tablet. It has both wifi and bluetooth capabilities, allowing you to access the internet for social media and other apps that need to internet to work properly. The construction and materials are good quality, giving it a nice heft and feel. The screen and buttons are properly responsive. The TF card made it easy to transfer all my music, podcasts, and videos from my computer to this device. However, it does require the subscription Apple Music account to access anything from that system. This has become my prefered way to stay entertained on while travelling so as to not use up my phone battery. I can also connect it to my vehicle's sound system, which is nice. Overall, it's definitely a 5-star gizmo! Read more
