I've had a lot of yoga mats and am certified to teach Iyengar yoga. This is a great mat. For me, slipping can be an issue. My palms sweat. I also need a fairly thin mat for balance poses, but enough cushion so that I can manage tender joints and arthritis. This mat covers all the bases and it's eco-friendly cork, which is a plus! It IS a lot heavier than most mats as the cork is adhered to a rubber backing--so if the weight of your mat is a concern, this may not be your ideal mat. I have been practicing yoga for more than 30 years and this is the first mat that I would say is 100% perfect. No smell, perfect thickness permitting ease and comfort of all postures. DON'T BUY THIS MAT. I work in the yoga industry and referred this mat to many of my students. I reviewed 10 mats at the time when I came upon 2B Balanced. The matv was great, study construction, but since my first introduction I've noticed the quality diminished. This is not the same mat I ordered,, the bottom is not made of rubber, it feels more like foam. I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about. I rolled this thing up and carried it on my shoulder along with my work bag and other items. Think pack mule. I did not feel weighted down. Love how soft and durable the mat is. It lays flat as advertised. I use it on carpeted floor and it stays put. I also love that it is eco friendly. Love this mat and use it daily. The cork top is so soft. It seems to be holding up well even when I leave it out and my kids decide to do their best and worst with it. I try not to do that. I have no complaints about the mat. I have struggled finding a yoga mat that I don’t slip around on when I’m sweaty from hot yoga . I used it this morning in class for the first time with low expectations. Every mat I have bought has claimed to be nonslip . I LOVED IT !! Did not lose footing once . Has no chemical smell . Stays put on polished concrete floors. I got this mat because I was looking for a good quality yoga mat that would support me in positions such as downward dog and would provide padding for my knees. I have bought two mats in the last month that were 10 mm thick. One was no slip, but it flexed in certain positions making stability an issue. The second was grippy to the floor and didn't flex in positions that created opposing pressure, but was too slippy, even when I wore grip gloves and after washing the mat. I do like this mat, but my hands slip quite a bit. I decided to use a grip spray as I liked the mats other feature so much. Grip spray makes it great, but not a long term mat for me. Read more
Buyer beware: it is HEAVY. Bought it when studying abroad and it really wasn’t pleasant to travel with. However it is super grippy and i love that it doesn’t stretch when you are pressing it in downward dog or other poses that add pressure to it. Wish it was a little thicker though. Read more
