I have a few rechargeable head lamps for running at night and doing yard work when it gets dark at 4:00 PM during the fall, and while I wouldn’t say this is my favorite headlamp, it is decent. The multiple colors (red and/or white) and patterns (flashing or solid) along with the ability to turn it on or off with a swipe make it a good option for running at night. I use the spot light and outside whites for yard work and home improvement. The spot light is bright and has good distance too. It’s a bit too focused for my liking, but it’s a spotlight after all. The outside whites aren’t quite as strong, but are good for close up work. The only thing I would have liked to have had is the ability to use both the spot light along with the outside whites at the same time, which it doesn’t do. There were no instructions in the box so this lamp took me a few seconds to figure out. You short press the power button to turn it on and then repeatedly short press the power button to toggle through the options to Off. If you turn the lamp on and then long press the power button, it initiates the hand gesture on/off feature so you can turn the headlamp on or off with a swipe. The easiest way to get started is to short press to the light setting you want and then long press to turn on the swipe sensor. Also note that when the sensor is on, one of the outer lamps remains blue when you swipe to off. The blue remains on with the red settings so one of the lamps turns pinkish. Another thing to keep in mind is that while the headlamp is powered on, there are four small red LEDs around the center lamp which will always be on. The elastic head band is comfortable, but it seems a little small. I can see the length being an issue if you have a big head or a lot of hair… I have neither. I’m glad these come in a two pack because there’s nothing worse than running out of battery power in the dark. I always have two with me. The items come in two boxes with the two brand new headlamps; each box also includes an elastic band, clips to attach to a hardhat (???) and a USB charging chord. The units appear to be well built, and the battery is fully charged. It is supposed to have the following modes Spotlight, COB light, Spotlight & COB, White LED Strobe Mode, RED COB light, Red Strobe; however, the light does not go to the Spotlight + COB lights mode. Holding the switch enables the sensor mode (blue light) that allows the light to be switched on and off by waving your hand in front of it and is a pretty handy feature and appears to work well so far. There are 4 lights that indicate the battery level where 4 lights are 100% and 1 light is 25%. The spotlight is quite powerful and throws a long way, perhaps not quite 400 feet but at least 200 feet of reasonably useable light. I plant to use it for electrical work when the power needs to be turned off and I need both hands and look like it will work well for me. I do not know how well the elastic band will hold up long term or how long a battery charge will last. There is no manual or instructions, so with the one mode plus the manual missing it loses one star. Otherwise, pretty decent light. Read more
