The product is well made, but in practice I found that all it was really doing was getting me to exclusively breathe through my nose once I wasn't watching my breathing, which may be a fine use for it if that's what you're training for. Living near sea level, I was looking for something that would help me adapt to higher altitudes prior to trips, but for that purpose a mask like device that covered both your nose and mouth would be much better to truly force the air restriction. With this, you don't really want to block your nose as you won't want to exhale through it without getting saliva everywhere. Since you're biting down on the mouthpiece to hold it in place you can't really manage your saliva very well. It's easy to clean at least with the mouthpiece just pulling off since it's flexible and then you can rinse both pieces. It's easy enough to use with the knob adjustment at the end that varies from a mild amount of restriction to closing it off completely. It does function to restrict your breathing through it and forces you to take slow, steady breaths. I would've appreciated a case for it but it's portable enough just throwing it in a ziplock or wrapped in paper towels. Ok price if you just want to try it. I think it actually works better if you're trying to calm yourself or meditate as it works better for slow conscious breathes. Once my heart rate increased I found myself supplementing by breathing through my nose. Read more
Definitely loving my breathing experience with these. Gave me more control on my breathing. Love that it comes in two colors. Very comfortable in the mouth as well. Will feel a lil weird for first time users but will get more comfortable overtime. Read more
I'm a Mom to a Runner, a Vocalist, and a Swimmer; and all three do different breathing exercises to increase respiratory endurance and train for their activity. My son had been asking to get one of these after seeing some of his XC teammates using them at practice; and at $6.50 each (two for $13) I thought this was a good buy to try it out. The mouthpiece is made from flexible silicone, and has an easy-to-adjust valve to change the air resistance. It took a minute to figure out which way to turn it for more/less airflow. My son said it was bearable wearing it on his run, and that he could feel a difference (and found himself breathing more through his nose!) My swimmer daughter claimed the other one, and said it helped her with going through the breathing exercises her Coach taught. I was a little disappointed there isn't a storage/holder included; that would make it easier to transport rather than sticking it in a plastic bag. Thankfully they are pretty easy to wipe down and clean between uses. Not sure if they will continue to be consistently used, but I do think the exercise would be beneficial to any routine.
