I recently purchased a set of small wooden recorders and a colorful piccolo flute for my toddler. The recorders are great for learning rhythm instruments as well as developing fine motor skills. The colors are vibrant and the size is perfect for little hands. The piccolo flute is also great for learning music. The notes are clear and the sound is delightful. My toddler loves playing with both instruments and I love that he is learning something new. I highly recommend these instruments for young children as they are a great way to learn music and develop their motor skills. Read more

A musical instrument? That’s a stretch for a definition but correct. Able to play a simple tune? Not happening. These flutes have 6 holes lined up along the length of the instrument (I used the term “instrument” very loosely) and a 7th hole on the butt end of the length. Of those 7 holes 2 or 3 might be able to make a musical sound. Blowing softly or blowing hard either way you’ll get something from 2 or 3 of the holes. If children are like my 3 yr old granddaughter she will be delighted with an ability to make any sound at all. So three stars making young children happy with musical notes. Both of my flutes had unpainted wooden mouthpieces that were sanded smooth. No splinters will be gotten from these musical instruments so they seem safe to use. I got these for my grandkids (3 and almost-6) to put in their Christmas stockings, mostly as a joke. The girls absolutely love them, and my daughter (their mom) has texted me "Thank you *so* much for the flutes" and (3 weeks later) "The damn flutes are very popular." The girls had to be "bribed" to not take them on a road trip. I have not heard them play, but I feel I have gotten my money's worth in 2nd-hand entertainment. Read more
