I have had this Hippo for some time now and I absolutely love it. It is soft and smelled like lavender when it arrived. I haven’t put it in the microwave and used it as a heating pad and it works great. It works great as a cooking pad also. The lavender smell disappears after a couple of weeks. So, I just put a few drops of lavender oil on it and the smell is back and lasts for a couple of months then. I use it for my migraines and the lavender works great. Sometimes I also apply peppermint oil which also works great for migraines. This little Hippo is so versatile and you can use it for anything you want. Hot, cold packs, headaches, stress relief or just to cuddle and sleep. I washed it in a linen bag and it washed up great. I didn’t put it in the dryer. I just let it air dry and then put it in the dryer to soften up the fur. Then, re-applied some oils and it washed back to snuggle time. I just can’t say enough good things about this little hippo. I bought 3 of these for people in my life who love highland cows. They are cute, huggable and they love them. They have no used the heat or the cold options due to the limitations of once heated you can't heat it again for at least 4 hours and it has to be at room temperature before heating. Absolutely fabulous and lovable and huggable and warm. This is good for kids of all ages up to 90. I bought some of these from my college aged grandchildren, and they did not stop touching it while they were opening all their other presents for the holidays. They actually started playing with them having them talk or do things to the other ones and they warm them up and just it was unreal. One of the best presents. The cat is weighted and heats well in the microwave. I have not yet tried putting it in the freezer. This poor kitty looked better in the picture. The string whiskers are not stiff and just hang off its face. The item was described as having “soothing aromatherapy from natural lavender infusion;” however, there is no scent of lavender present. This was very disappointing to me and, honestly, I was hoping it would be a lot more cuddly. If I had transportation to the site that takes returns, I would be sending it back.
