I actually bought one if these to try the butter curls function they are supposed to do, and know that it is a bit tricky, you have to have the butter just the right temperature to get the perfect curls, but it DOES work, after a bit of practice. However, I found myself using these for everything. They are lovely spreaders. They are NOT the delicate little spreaders for ladies teas, they are large, and heavy enough to make sandwiches for a crowd a breeze, much more substantial than I was expecting. The serrated edge works great for cutting sandwiches once assembled as well, also splitting rolls and biscuits... They are beautiful heavy quality stainless, simple, with a lovely mirror polish, so they can fit in with almost any flatware. This is my second order of these, since I am not the only one who finds them useful so, they seem to always be in the dishwasher - we needed a couple more. Read more

It’s just a knife. It’s a decent knife with a nice shape and a good serrated edge but as far as using it for cold butter, it’s not as simple as the images make it seem. It works, but you have to put a lot of muscle into it. So for me, it’s just not worth it. Read more

If you're frustrated with your butter tearing your bread/rolls, and struggling with getting a bit of butter, these actually work. Especially good with the butter in tubs. It also works on real butter and stick butter/oleo out of the refrigerator. I have ordered 5 more sets as Christmas presents. So nice when you need just a little something. We have been using the short butter knives for years, not knowing that longer ones existed. Tragic! These butter knives are THE BEST!! They are not quite as long as a regular dinner knife, but almost. And the curling holes are a must for hard butter (when you forget to set it out in time, because taking the butter out to soften might not be on the top of your to-do list.) The serrated edge is great for cutting your toast. They are not decorative, but they are classic and go with every decor.
