I own a hat like this that I use weekly for mowing the lawn in 85 degree weather. It has seen better days. I got these hats as a replacement because I rotate them to get extended life of the hats. The only thing that these hats don't have like my old one is the fabric face shield that is useful when using a weed trimmer. Even though the face shield isn't included, the protective flap for the back of your neck is very useful and necessary to keep the sun from beaming down your neck. Read more

I have a bunch of these hats now in a quest for the best hat for working in the heat, sun and humidity of Miami. This hat has a smaller brim than others that I have. It is still large and protective with the sun but there are larger brims out there. Some of the hats I have attach the neck guard to the outer edge of the brim and while this does offer great protection for the neck and shoulders, they can be a bit big and cumbersome while trimming trees for instance. I was looking for a hat that attached the neck guard to the headband and I had found one but discovered that it was hot having the fabric right up against the back of my neck. As it got wet with sweat it would cling to my neck. This hat is of a similar design but the top portion of the neck guard is made with a mesh fabric that breathes. The cap is also ventilated so it is cooler to wear. This offers adequate protection while keeping you cool. There is an elastic band that you can adjust on the back to fit a smaller head. There is minimal adjustment available here as the headband is attached to the brim edge and the brim edge is not going to compress. The elastic connects to the side so if you snug it up a bit it creates a straight line to the center back where the cord lock is and that does allow a small adjustment in fit. Read more

This hat is very comfortable. The 3 1/2 inch brim does a good job shading your face, the neck flap protects your neck. Size is easily adjusted with a cord-lock and elastic cord around the head band. There is a chin strap which can be sized with another cord-lock. If you do not want to use the neck flap, it tucks easily up by the head band. If you do not want the neck strap, you can hook it up over the back half of the brim. There are 3 colors in the package: khaki, light grey and dark grey. The only improvement that I would like to see is to be able offer this in navy blue. This is a good value for 3 hats. Read more

The size is great. The flaps work well at blocking the sun, except for when it's super windy. The fabric helps keep cool too, though of course the black fabric heats up more than the other colors. Read more

These are very great. Our summers are very hot with lots of direct sun. Anytime outside can be absolutely brutal in those conditions. These hats screen most of your head and face from any direct sunlight yet it doesn’t feel heavy or restricting. With all the mesh vents it stays reasonably cool while allowing any breeze to flow through. It also doesn’t restrict your vision anymore than a conventional hat would. The materials and workmanship appear to be excellent. Read more
