★★☆☆☆

Underfilled baffles

I used this bag in the UT backcountry 5 nights over 3 different trips. My sleeping pad was a Nemo Tensor with an R value of 4.2. Two nights in the Uinta Mtns the ground and the inside walls of tent completely frosted, but water bottles didn't freeze. Yet I was uncomfortably cold. In the UT desert it was 45 degrees and I still got chilly. The baffles near the center of the bag do not puff out like the rest of the bag and appear under filled. Also the draft collar is super skimpy. The down is indeed very high quality. However, it's impossible to completely seal the bag around your face so this bag lets the air drift right in. As of today, I'm 4 days past the return window. Otherwise, I would return this. I expected better for this price. Update 11/23: I contacted Western Mountaineering and shared these complaints. They invited me to send the bag in to make things right. Sure enough, they did and I’m looking forward to using this for years to come. Read more
