I thought this is going to be the typical sharpeners that I see in grocery stores. Thankfully this one has most of what you would need to sharpen a knife to really good quality. It has three sets of coarseness that can be followed up with each other plus the ability to change the angles for the appropriate knife type set. I tried this out with my hunting knife and after 100 total strokes dividing 33 of each grinder, it cuts like butter and it whittles hair. It's a very good start to those who want to sharpen knives. It even sharpened scissors which is something I can appreciate since I have a super old pair I've had in my house for about 25 years that could use a refreshing. This sharpener does a decent job if you are patient. Only one complaint, which is that the knob for adjustment of the angle of the sharpening teeth is very hard to turn.
