Very easy push button ignition. You slide the lock on the side to open and then gentle push on the front button to ignite the flame. This model has a slightly smaller hand to tip of lighter length than the difficult double click trigger fireplace gas log lighter it replaced. I like the fuel level window so that you don't get surprised when your lighter stops working because it is out of fuel. This is a very good model for seniors as it doesn't require you to hold down the lock and button/trigger at the same time. It also stays lit as long as you hold the front push button down, so you don't gas yourself while trying to light your fireplace gas logs. Also, you don't have to worry about accidentally dropping the lit gas lighter, as the flame goes out as soon as you stop pushing the front button down. I am really happy with this gas lighter and highly recommend it for seniors. Some people had complained that they received one or more of these lighters that didn't work upon delivery. All four of mine arrived prefilled and lit without any problems. Read more
I've tried several stick lighters and all of them have safety locks that are almost impossible to operate when you have arthritis or weakness in the hands. These lighters have an easy to slide on/off safety lock and once "off" you simply press the large button in the center and voila, it lights perfectly. Great for lighting the grill! Read more

Love these for many reasons. Even with arthritis I can get them to work, they are refillable, and they stay on if you want them to. I put one in every stocking this holiday. They are a little more expensive, but since they can be refilled I feel they are worth it. Read more

Excellent! It takes 30 seconds or so for the flame to fully open. And then if the flame is too low for you, the next thing to do is to cut the flame regulator off with the razor blade and push it to the max. Say thank you :) Read more
