Higher end but not the highest

18650s are all over the place in terms of their mah (aka battery life), and tons of them lie like a rug. Just saw one at 9600mah. Nope. Just nope. No, no one makes a 9800mah 18650 battery. Typically about 3500-3600 is the max. Anything more than that and they're just lying. And many of them are lying anyways. To me, it's important for the battery itself to last long, as I use them on scuba video lights. If I have to change the batteries every dive, that is not ideal, as I'm sometimes on a boat, rocking like crazy, salty water everywhere. Get a little salt water inside the lamp and might as well throw the whole thing in the ocean (I wouldn't... please don't litter... just saying it's junk at that point). By not having to change batteries, it's just one less thing to fumble with. Some of the 18650s out there have less than a third of the life of the good ones, and once it got out that the Samsung green batteries were consistently the best, tons of copycats started just flooding the market with counterfeits. So the only way now is to test it. My multimeter apparently died and I didn't realize it until I went to do this review, and the new one won't be in for a hot minute. So I did the next best thing... a real world test with my scuba video lights. Each lamp pumps out 18k+ lumens, can light up a whole cavern. I get tons of 18650s, so I naturally compare them this way anyways. My last batch of crappy batteries are about 40-50 min on max before they're visibly dimming. The primo samsung batteries could last 150+ min on max without dimming, and even more with dimming. I'm happy to report that these lasted about 120 min on the dot until the lamp detected lower power. So while they're not as good as the best on the market, they're still very good. And I want to reiterate again... merely buying the primo samsung batteries is tough because there are so many counterfeits. One of the other reviewers reiterated that it's lower than the advertised mah, but not by a ton, and I'd say my test confirmed that reviewer's results. I don't know about the charger... I have a nitecore charger that automatically enters trickle mode if you just leave the batteries in. That way I can just leave it plugged in all the time and it's one less set of batteries to make sure I charge the night before I go diving. Either this charger here doesn't have a trickle mode, or they held a charge long enough and I never noticed the charger kick back on. There's only a "charging" indicator, rather than meters above each battery. The charger is USB-A, and unfortunately the cord is built directly into the charger, not easily removable, so if you don't have a USB port in immediate distance of the short cable, or an extension cable, you might need to charge in a different spot. Overall, the batteries are on the higher end but not the highest. "Great" 18650s usually run $5-8/ea as of the time of this review so take that in mind when you're pricing it out. Read more

Not 18650 Too Short

Like other reviewer stated, these are not 18650 batteries. The width is correct however the height is not. They are useless for applications that require 18650 batteries. Read more
