Extendable so does not take up much space (8 inches) when not in use, then extends to 22 inches, long enough to reach that annoying itch on your back. Not very sturdy, but with a little care should last a long time. An improvement over standard wooden backscratcher. Read more

The media could not be loaded. I mean, it scratches my back - right? And my dog loves it, too. The telescoping mechanism works good. It's tight and it doesn't collapse when you're using it. I was a little worried about it being too sharp, but it's not. Just don't use it over a sweater, 'cause it'll snag. The "hand" is metal, as is the extender. The colored part on the end is kind of a rough silicone, maybe, that makes it easy to hold on to. It does the trick. It's even long enough that my husband can reach his own back, even with his bad shoulder. And we can reach the dog when she sits by the sofa - but JUST far enough away that I can't reach her with my hand - and then she whines, and it's a whole thing.
