These garnet bags are light weight without feeling like you are going to rip through them on the first use. They have more of a felt like feel instead of plastic which makes me believe they aren’t going to keep clothes dry in a rainstorm. I got them for packing formal dress suits when traveling and they work great for the purpose I use them. In addition to them zippering there are matching button pairs at the top and bottom that allow you to keep the bag folded in half once your clothes are in so you don’t have to worry about it sliding in your suitcase and getting a weird diagonal fold across your sport coat. We wanted to purchase an inexpensive garment bag to keep my sons hockey jersey free from dirt while travelling. It has totally done that, however the snaps at the bottom of the bag that are used to fold the bag in half pulled away. I used this to protect my Army Dress Blues when I went on a flight to a wedding, and it worked like a champ.
