40mm Black Plastic Jewelry Box Modern 3D Floating Display Case Travel Case for Women

I had no idea what to expect when I got this, but I had a lab grown ruby that needed to be safely displayed. On getting this it doesn't look especially luxe, the frame is just inexpensive acrylic. It's not obvious how it's supposed to be opened but it finally did just by pulling really hard at the two sides. There's 2 layers of saran-wrap-like plastic on the insides of the frame pieces and they're not exactly sticky but slightly tacky. One side of mine had marks on it that's easy to see, which is a shame, but I put the ruby in between the layers and put the frame back together. It's a little frustrating to get the gem exactly centered as the inside layers are tacky, but they aren't tacky enough to hold the gem in place if it gets hit or knocked to the floor. Instead of reopening the box to reposition when this happened, I just gently tapped on the sides until it was fairly centered again. The gem stays in place when it's not being touched, thankfully. This little membrane case is exactly what I expected to receive. Would make a great 2 sided display case for a gemstone, small meteorite, small artifact, or other specimen - though I've learned to avoid keeping amber in them from past experiences with membrane cases (caused the film to fog... but I want to stress that I haven't tested amber with this specific style of membrane case). The case is very clear and exactly as sturdy as other membrane cases of this design I've encountered. Other style membrane cases I've got in the past had very strong chemical smells, but this one is odorless. Both sides contain a removable film to protect the case from scratches before you add it to your display. Price seems a bit high, but these cases are great for those more valuable or interesting pieces that you'd like to be able to observe from both sides while minimizing the risk of damage. Read more
