I am replacing a different type of dash cam system with this GOLDENSNAKE4K/1080p Front & Rear Dash Cam. The old system was also self installed by myself, so I had a fair idea of what was ahead of me for installation. The hardest part is routing the wires through the interior molding...some of the turns and hard to reach areas can be a challenge. I found that the included lever tool helped a lot. Sticking the front camera to the windshield is a "get it right the first time" type of operation. After deciding where (search for the rules of your state...they are different), plan your routing of wires and see how much room you need for plugging in/out the power lead and rear camera plug. If you put the module up against the windshield/headliner boundary, you may not be able to plug in/out. I chose the cigarette lighter plug method for power. My fuse panel (pictured) didn't leave much room for additions. After install, download and and connect the app... turn on the car, and look for the signal from the Wi-fi Module of the camera. Connecting to that signal enables your app to do it's work. This was all very easy and seamless. The Tf Card files separate video from pictures. The video files are separated into front and rear camera views. It doesn't switch to rear view camera when you put the car into reverse. It is not a touch screen. Once installed, the menu buttons are hard to see what the label calls them. My location for the front camera/controls places the buttons facing down and the label is impossible to cypher even when stopped, let alone when you are driving. License plates aren't that clear a resolution...I have to do a screen grab and then manipulate in an editor to be able to identify 50% of the plates that are approx. 20' or less away from the camera. I do agree with the pictures in the sales copy...you would be able to get the plate ID when in an accident and the other car is only 5; away. JUST HAPPENED: I was going to put this dashcam in my wife's car, but she didn't want a camera. So, I replaced the older camera in my car with this dashcam. We were just coming back from an errand, together in her car. Stopped at a light with a big truck in front of us. WHAM, from the backside, we were hit while stopped there...the guy didn't brake in time. He took off before we took pictures of his plate...hit and run. If she would have had this GOLDENSNAKE4K/1080p Front & Rear Dash Cam installed, we would have had some evidence. We are fine and our car is fine, Just a little more shaken into reality. Read more

This is easily one of the most clarity camera out there. I've run this for nearly a month now and though I never really go review the videos because it sort of just run in loop recording, initially after installation, I did check out the recorded videos. The front camera is easily able to capture the license plate of cars in front of me, with 4-5 car length the clarity is uncanny. I can't even see that well with my own eyes staring at the license plate in front of me. This camera wins. I didn't install the rear camera because I have very expensive tinted window in the back and I don't want any adhesives on it and leave some impossible tar-like residue to clean up later on. I also didn't want to route the power cable inside the SUV's rear hatch and then having to pass through the cable covers and hide inside the panel cards. It's just a lot of work to do the back side; maybe one of those days when weather gets cooler, I'll likely entertain the rear camera installation. But for now, front will do. The front camera is easy enough to install. I have this fitted into a BMW F15 X5, and I use a wiring harness that's meant to t-off the the power and ground from the rain-sensor and provide a c-port for powering up this camera. The installation is a breeze for me because I've pre-wired it for my valentine-one radar already. A c-port is already there waiting for this recording camera. I didn't have to run a wire through the ceiling cover, behind A-pillar, and into the dash to get power from fuse box or cig lighter. If you're going to do this type of camera install and want a clean look and feel, do your research and find one of those power t-off harnesses, it'll save you a whole lot of work and you can hide the wires so easily. Anyways, the clarity from the 4k camera is superb, vibration isn't an issue with image shaking, and the wide-angle sure is a big bonus. The only concern I have is how long will this camera last since I'm over here in the Southern states and summer heat basically "cooks" this camera day-in and day-out. I hope this camera can take all the beating from the heat here. All in all, great system, easy to install, easy to use, video loops, and online access through the phone is pretty seamless. This is something I'd recommend greatly! Read more

I finally got to install this dash cam in my SUV, took me way to long to get to it. It took me about an hour to install both the front and back cameras. Hiding the wires is fairly easy once you have installed one of these cameras at least once. I suggest the first time you are installing one of these dash cams, allow yourself plenty of time and do it in a place with loads of light. And keep the little red handle bar the set comes with in a safe place in your vehicle, you may need it from time to time to push wires out of site. One of the many good things about the installation part of this camera set is the adhesive to mount the cameras on the glass, it is very strong, really nicely quality adhesive. Should hold the camera securely to the windscreen. The video quality of both the front and back cameras is good, clear enough that you can see detail that is further away. It comes with a memory card that slots into the side of the front camera, that is where the footage is saved. The cameras are compact and tough, should do well standing up to be shaking around on the winds as you drive around. The app works well and it is easy to navigate and look at past footage. There are a lot more shady drivers out there looking for ways to make money off of you these days. So having one of these running in your vehicle suddenly reduces your stress level by 90%. If one scammer cuts you off and brake checks you, then the footage from this camera will save you a ton of money. I would never NOT have a dash cam running in my vehicles now days. They are worth the money and the peace of mind. Very glad I have mine. Read more
