This is a nice little unit with a lot of decent options. If I could do half stars, though, this would be 3.5 stars, and I'll get into why. First, though. Picture quality is fantastic. Very crisp, very clean. The file sizes are also shockingly reasonable considering the quality. They didn't skimp on the video encoder chip, which is usually one of the first things to get cut (why pay more for a chip when you can just quadruple the bitrate? But that means a quarter of the recording capacity). A lot of video encoders can struggle with dark scenes and night vision encoding, but this one does a damn decent job. It's still night vision so there will always be a little bit of blurry haze, but thats a limitation of our current technologies and not the camera itself. I see no shortcomings this camera could've reasonably addressed that weren't addressed with the video quality, and I'm generally a fairly picky person with this. I like that it's a self contained unit with both cameras, though I do wish there was a better way to deal with the excess wire between the front and back camera. It's a lot of wire, which is good, but no real convenient way to shorten it. The WiFi SSID and password can be changed! This sounds like such a dumb thing to be excited about, but it can't be taken for granted. I just received/reviewed another camera whos WiFi couldn't be changed or disabled, so I'm going to absolutely point it out, as this camera will be much much harder to remotely tamper with thanks to that. Much safer. The review guide tells me to mention suction cup.. There is no suction cup, it's purely the adhesive strip, which is strong! No concerns there, this is staying put. An issue I do have is this line on the box: "Excessexposure to heat from the sun may cause damage that isn't coveredunder the 1 year warranty." Copied exactly as it was on the box.. But ummm, do you really expect a dash cam to not be exposed to the sun? It's a dash cam! I suspect this would be how they'll wiggle out of warranty claims, as this is literally going to be sitting in the sun almost all day every day. That bothered me a bit, but for now I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and see how it goes I will absolutely be back to take some stars away if it starts falling apart under the heat. My old xtrons camera sat in my window for years without issues, so I'm giving this one very little leeway in the reliability department, especially with that notice on the box. My suspicion is raised due to that.. I also was tempted to dock it for a subscription service to GPS functionality, but GPS isn't mentioned in the description, so I'll let that slide for now. Great picture. The downside is that once it is mounted, you can not relocate it. Once mounted, it is only adjustable up and down, not left or right. The adjustment up and down is very easy to use. If you hit a big bump, it changes the angle of the camera, and you cannot adjust the tightness of the up and down motion. Read more
