I wanted to add a review from a regular guy and not some bot comment or sponsored reviewer. There are tons of these little 4k media play boxes and most of them are probably just rebrands of a few different types from China. One of the biggest issues seems to be units that have crappy IR remotes that are very unresponsive and with almost no range. Well I can report that running off a 1TB SSD this thing works great. The interface is super simple and responsive which is just what I wanted and the remote works with the unit stuck to the back of my TV completely out of the line of sight with me sitting 12' away. It plays back every file I've thrown at it so far including H265 content. Again it is VERY responsive which I was shocked. You can rewind, fast forward and jump and it's so instant that it's almost jarring in the best way possible. Another fantastic thing is the remote features a dedicated audio track and subtitle button. If you've got a video file that might have multiple language tracks or commentary track you can cycle through them without having to bring up the on screen menu. Same with the subtitle button. It's such a simple but useful feature. For $51 this is really tough to beat. Note: My use is with an SSD. I have not tested it with other forms of storage. Be aware that some of this little media boxes don't play nice with thumb drives or SD cards as they don't have a way to properly "eject" the card without causing some file corruption. Read more

This little device works great! It plays 4K videos smoothly and supports a wide variety of formats like MP4, MKV, and MP3 without any lag. Setup was quick just plug it into HDMI, connect my external drive, and it started playing automatically. The picture quality is crisp, and the audio is clear. I really like that it doubles as a hard drive enclosure, saving me desk space. The remote control is easy to use and responsive, making navigation simple. I’ve owned several media players over the years, but this one truly tops them all. The 4K Ultra HD Media Player & HDD Enclosure 2‑in‑1 has everything you could want. It plays virtually every video, audio, and picture format I’ve tried—H.265/HEVC, H.264/AVC, MP4, MKV, MP3, JPG—you name it. Storage capacity is incredible: it accepts SSDs up to 8TB, reads external drives up to 8TB, and even supports USB flash drives and Micro SD cards up to 1TB. That flexibility means I can keep my entire library in one place. Connectivity is excellent too, with a full‑size HDMI out port for stunning TRUE 4K output at 4096x2304, plus an audio out port if you want to hook it up to a separate sound system. The playback is smooth at 4K 60fps, and auto‑playback makes it effortless to use. This is hands down the most complete and powerful media player I’ve ever owned. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a reliable, future‑proof solution for all their entertainment needs! Read more

This is GoBag Item 0015, and it earns its place by doing one job extremely well: making sure your critical digital files are organized, readable, and ready when everything else isn’t. Five out of five stars—because data you can’t open is just dead weight. This little box proves your files will play on whatever screen you can find. This isn’t about movie night. It’s about preparedness. In a real emergency, paperwork, instructions, maps, photos, and training matter just as much as food and water. The smart move is to pack all of that onto a lightweight flash drive and confirm it works before you ever need it. This device is how you do that. Think of it like insurance you can test. Load your drive with IDs, deeds, manuals, medical info, instructional videos, reference photos, morale-boosting music, and a few familiar movies for long nights. Plug it in at home and verify every file opens cleanly. Setup is simple. HDMI for modern TVs, standard AV for older ones. Power it up, insert your media—USB-A flash drives, MicroSD cards, or USB-C portable drives, all the way up to massive capacities. Then sit back and navigate with a solid remote that doesn’t feel like a toy. Old TV, new TV—doesn’t matter. Cheap screen, borrowed screen, shelter screen—it just works. Once your digital survival kit is verified, the flash drive goes in your GoBag. Until then, this player can live at home doing regular duty. When the lights go out, you already know your data is good. You can take it with you if you have room for it in the truck. This review isn’t about entertainment—it’s about certainty. You’re confirming that the files you may depend on will open when stress is high and options are limited. Entertainment is just a bonus. After trying better-known brands and cheaper boxes, this is the best value I’ve found. Clean interface, dependable playback, excellent remote, all necessary cables included, and a price that makes sense. This is the tool you use right up until the moment you grab your bag and go—confident that the most important information you own is already packed and proven. Read more
