A 10/10 on the Mohs scale!
Used to hone carbide rotary hammer bits these pads extend the life each bit. The 60 grit is great to remove some of the hardened steel that holds the carbide bit to give better access to the carbide itself and the 100 grit plus is nice for the honing process. I've sharpened my bits multiple times doubling and tripling the life of each bit (so far) for about 6 minutes of sanding per bit. This saves money on new drills, but is also reduces waste and throwing drill bits away after dulling once. If these pads can hone carbide, 8.5 on the Mohs scale, it proves they are a diamond product which is a 10 on the same scale. I have no doubt they will sand any other material I may use them for. I have not noticed any erosion of the sanding surface yet, I've only used these on the drills which uses the edge of the pad. The pads suffer near the edges but that is expected when sanding hard and rough surface. In time I may try and trim the pad smaller to expose new diamond material if the edge ever wears out. The image shows three used bits. Two I have resharpened on the right (more than once) and a dull bit is on the left. Read more
