The 5 in 1 curling iron set is a very sturdy, well-made set of tools at an excellent price point. The main draw is the crimper, which is a blast from the past to other 80s children like me. This is a different crimper though than we grew up with - it's got larger waves, so it's not the crisp, iconic points that we're used to seeing in our photos. The tool heats up quickly and gets very hot. The thermal glove is an absolute necessity, as the 4 curling iron attachments don't have a clamp, so you need to manually wrap hair around and hold it in place. Without the glove you will burn yourself. Even with the glove it gets very hot, very quickly. The attachments are easy to put on, once you know how. Align the side of the iron with the stand that it rests on with the unlock button and it will snap right in place. Getting the attachments off, however, is not nearly as easy. You need to grab hold and pull it off and even wearing the thermal glove it is too hot to do that until it's cooled down. Although it heats up quickly, it takes a while to cool down. To me this is a design flaw, because if you're wanting to use the different sizes of the curling irons on different parts of your head you have to wait 5-10 minutes for it to cool down enough to handle to switch it out. This is the first time I've used curling irons without clamps to hold the hair in place. I'm familiar with curling irons (with clamps) and flat irons and can use those without trouble. It is likely user error, but I couldn't get these to do much for my hair. I believe that it's well made and that someone skilled with these tools could make it work, but it was a bust for my hair and my experience level. I couldn't get the crimper to do anything for my hair other than slightly wave it - I tried different lengths of time and motions and everything i could think of, but my hair did not take to the crimper. I'm rating this 4 stars because even though I don't intend to use this again and it didn't work for me, I believe this is a well-made product. that will work for others. The price point is great for everything that you get, though with all of the attachments, I wish they'd included a storage bag of some sort. Read more
