Derma roller: This is a really nice derma roller! It came well packaged, very sleek and professional looking, and easy to tell it was still factory wrapped and not potentially used. I really like the feel of this roller, it makes for a very smooth application. Virtually pain-free while using, leaves a bit of a tingly sting after the fact, very mild and not truly painful. Seems to be working well. Serum: This is a solid product. I love the extra botanicals in this formula vs straight up minoxidil you can buy at the drugstore. My hair and scalp are very oily, and I worried this was going to leave it looking greasier. I applied (to scalp) once in damp hair post-shower and then once in dry hair at night. It took some time to absorb/dry, but once it did, my hair didn't look greasy or dirty at all. The serum has no odor to it. I paired this with a hair supplement, although I previously haven't had good luck with supplements, and the addition of serum has been amazing. I have so many baby hairs sprouting that are about 1" long and I'm ecstatic about that. I can't speak to how the results will be if I stop applying the serum, but with no adverse effects, I'm going to be sticking with this routine. Roller: I stupidly didn’t read the instructions and thought this was faulty as the roller didn’t work. It actually comes with a tool to properly install it. This is the first kit I’ve seen that included a roller, and I’ve found it to be great for two patches where my hairline is receding, to give extra attention there. I love the idea of the different massagers and rollers. I poured the serum inside the roller bottle and parted my hair and applied to the entire crown of my head section by section with the roller. The roller worked very well. I also massaged my scalp with the massager. The massager was of great quality and came with the perfect solid quality plastic container to store. I love that it targets my problem areas. But lets be honest. How many people have the time to do this twice a day? I find it much easier and more time efficient to part my hair in small sections use the dropper and massage with my fingertips since I'm always pressed for time aka lazy. The downside of using the dropper is that it wastes more product. The roller allows product control. Regardless on whichever way you decide, the serum itself can be a little heavy so use it sparingly. I will definitely use this entire product as I am an avid minoxidil user. Read more
I started this minoxidil kit because my hairline was thinning a bit at the temples, and I wanted to see if something could help without going full prescription route. I've been using it for about 10 weeks now, applying the serum to my scalp twice a day (morning and night) with the dropper, then massaging it in. The kit comes with everything you need, and it's straightforward. So far the results are encouraging. The impact visibility phase was real-around weeks 3-5, and now I'm seeing new growth in those thinning spots. The hairs are fine and short but definitely new. My beard fills in better too, which is a nice bonus. No major irritation, though my scalp was a little itchy at first (went away after a couple weeks). The biotin oil that comes with it helps keep things from getting too dry. The bottle lasts about a month with twice-daily use, and the kit is good value since it includes extras like the dropper and instructions. One con: you have to be consistent, and the initial time can be discouraging if you're not prepared for it. First few weeks there is no result. If you're dealing with thinning hair or patchy beard and are okay with a 3-6 month commitment, this is a solid over-the-counter option. This is a good product, and the quality of the tools is good, but it seems, to me, unnecessarly expensive and is the reason for 3 stars. Its a small roller bottle and a needling roller, both of which can be purchased independently for a buck or two. I don't use the tools myself, as I find them to be unnecessary and largly ineffective. I just drop the minoxidil on my head and rub it around with my finger tips. I still have hair since I've been using minoxidil for lots of years and the needling roller doest reach my scalp thorough my hair. It might be useful to someone that is just starting out and is trying to recover from an extreemly thin area. The roller ball bottle might be useful in reducing overuse but after over a decade of minoxidil use, I just squirm it in my head, rub it around and call it a day. This also has biotin which from what I find on the internet is also helpful when combined with minoxidil. (Also as a side note for those interested; saw palmetto topical also helps quite a bit when added to minoxidil and botin - the combo of the 3, in my expereince is very effective) So if you skip a shower and use maybe a little too much straight minoxidil your hair has a mat, white powdery texture. With this product, it's oily which i think may be better then "chalky" hair. Ultimately, jf you are looking for a roller ball applicator and a needle roller these tools are good quality, if you're seeking just a bottle of minoxidil with biotin it may not be the preferred choice, largly due to the cost which is likely due to the tools that are included.
