5 Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener- 3-Stage Premium Kitchen Knife Sharpener to Repair Restore Polish Blades

I have an electric knife sharpener that works really well, but sometimes i just want to quickly sharpen up a single knife that isn't cutting thru meat very well. This is where this handy manual sharpener makes life so much easier. I was cubing raw tuna to make poke and my knife was crushing the fish rather than cutting cleaning thru it. I opened up this manual sharpener and used the "fine" slot to pull my blade thru several tiimes. Initially I could here the blade catching which meant the blade had some imperfections. I pulled the knife blade thru the sharpener about 8 times and then went back to the tuna. My knife cut easily thru the fish without crushing it. I have to say I was impressed. What I like about thiis sharpener compared to to some of the others I have reviewed is the labing/instructions on the backside. Noting which angle to use for different knives. changing the angle o the sharpening sticks is very easy. There's a red dial that has angles noted on it and you simply turn the dial to the angle you want. Made of a durable plastic, it's light-weight, yet sturdy, there isn't any flex in the unit. There are two slots for sharpening (corse and fine) and a third slot for serrated knives and scissors. After having it sharpen the edge on my chefs knife I decided to try using it to fully sharpen some of my other smaller knives. I was able to sharpen them just as well as my electric one does. This is a great sharpener, it works really well, with 2 stages for sharpening, it's fast and easy to use. the size if very compact and it doesn't take up much room to store. The handle is designed to protect your hand while using and there are rubber feet on the bottom that keeps it for sliding or moving while sharpening knives. For the quality and how well it sharpens, it is a very good value for the price. There are many kinds of sharpeners on the market, some good and some mediocre. I've used a few of these handheld knife sharpeners and I'd say this one works just as I expected it to. Setting the angle is as easy as rotating the large rubber wheel, something that can be done even with wet hands (though you probably won't need to change it much). I like that they printed the angles and uses right on the handle, so you don't have to keep the box or another piece of paper floating around. That said, I'd take a picture when you receive it as screen printing can sometimes be flaky in the long run. Pretty much like my others, this unit has a couple of different slots for sharpening. The first is a rough stone that does the actual sharpening, grinding the blade down. The second is the hone, which removes the burrs and smooths out the blade. Both slots were easy to use and felt 'right' while sharpening. I specifically waited to sharpen my knife, knowing this tool was incoming, so I'd have a good test for it. I drew the blade through each slot 10 times, letting the weight of the knife itself do the work. Afterwards, I rinsed off the blade (to remove any metal 'dust' and drew it across a tomato). As is typical, the difference was night and day. A well sharpened knife is a thing of beauty and this sharpener makes it quick and easy to accomplish. I like that this sharpener also has a slot for serrated knives (which I don't use) and scissors (which I haven't sharpened in a decade). Against, I drew the scissors through the slot 10 times or so and it was noticeable, when cutting a piece of paper, how much sharper they were. I didn't have any chicken to mess with at the moment, but I expect they will work better there as well. The only downside I've found so far is that this sharpener is quite a bit larger than my other. Not so large that you can't store it, but every little bit of room in my kitchen is precious so large enough that this won't be my 'go-to' sharpener, as it will be in the 'overflow closet'. We cook at home and use our knife set every day. It has been getting dull, so we wanted a sharpener that would work on most of the knives in the set. I really like that this sharpener has a wheel so you can adjust it to the proper sharpening angle. This is very simple and easy to use. It says you can use one of the slots for scissors and serrated blades. It does work well on the scissors but I have not tried to sharpen my serrated knives. I really like that it has the directions printed on the tool itself. I kept the box to store this in to keep it clean from dust, but if I do throw away the box I will still know what angles are for what knife just by looking at the sharpener. It says you can use it for pocket and hunting knives, but I use a whetstone when I sharpen mine. I might try this on some of my cheaper pocket knifes to see how the 18 degree angle works for them. It was very quick and easy to sharpen my entire set of knives! I just set the dial to the proper setting, and pulled the knives through the course and fine sections about 6 times until the knife was sharp. I then washed them and also knocked the metal shards out of the sharpener into the trash before moving on to the next type of knife. This did improve my chef and paring knives a lot! They are much more sharp, and have a nice smooth edge to them now. This is much easier and safer than using a whetstone or the included sharpener in my butcher block.
