Super easy to build and not too heavy! I got it in black and it looks great. It’s nice and simple and really does the job. It’s a great shelf unit that can hold a ton of things. I will say that one of the shelves were dented in the middle but I didn’t mind since I’m not putting too many very heavy things on it. During assembly, we were slightly confused as to why some of the parts felt like they didn’t click together but as soon as you slide the shelves over the small clasps, it tightens perfectly and does not budge. We ordered this on a great sale to replace old broken wall shelves in our basement closet. These were easy to assemble. The instructions say 2 people are needed and I agree 2 would make it easier, but I was able to assemble alone. It's extremely sturdy and comes in many different sizes to handle many different situations. It's beautifully packaged and the black finish is very nice. Our basement closet has a cement wall and we only needed one of the two included brackets to affix it to the wall and it's very sturdy. Much easier than installing wall shelves! We're very pleased! I read prior reviews, and was worried it would be difficult and frustrating to put together. But, I found the shelf units were easy to put together. The instructions tell you to mark the level where you will apply the clips, but I found that step was not really necessary. Just be sure you get the clips at the same level on all 4 legs. I put it together all by myself, without issues. I did use my rubber mallet to assist with putting it together but be careful. I did manage to slightly bend one of the rails. Note: there is an indentation on the legs of the shelf and the clips have a corresponding ridge...after the first 4 clips and "struggling" to line them up with the unnecessary marks, I figured out the ridge fits into the groove and the clips are easy to install with that knowledge. There is a mark on the clips that notes the "top", it is a little hard to see in dim light, so just be careful the clips are aligned to the top as indicated. The shelf fit in the space I needed exactly perfect. They (I bought 2) might be 1/4" or so smaller than the length/width listed, but that actually worked to my advantage. On the shelves, I was able to fit plastic shoe boxes 2 across, or plastic pencil boxes 3 across. On one of the shelves, I have a file box, filled with hanging files that are filled as well. It is a bit larger than the shelf front to back, but so far, there are no issues with the weight of the box. It all feels stable. If in the future I need another utility shelf like this, I would absolutely purchase again. I felt the value was good for the price paid. But I noticed there was a price drop the next day, so that made me sad. I could have saved $10 on the purchase of the 2 I bought. Read more
I purchased this shelving to replace an Amazon Basics model that was far less sturdy so that the shelving actually bent when I put just a fraction of what I have on the MZG ones. The MZG one was easier to assemble and even had instructions, something the Amazon Basics model lacked. I also had trouble with the plastic shelf supports sliding on the Amazon Basics, while that was not an issue with the MZG ones (the supports and poles are less flimsy). I needed shelves that could hold hold at least 300lb each and these deliver! There was no sagging or bending at all and it looks like the shelves could hold far more weight. They also look nicer in my room that the typical white or chrome shelving of this type. I have a small business and my supplies are not light, so I'm so glad that I found this shelving! It cost more than the Amazon Basics ones, but these were worth the extra money. I definitely can recommend them. Tip: There are lots of wire shelves out there, but they are not made equally. Many of the cheaper ones are made with thinner gauge metal and wire that will bend and warp if you try to put anything heavy on them (or worse, the plastic shelf supports slide and the shelf falls!). Read the product specifications to be sure how much each shelf can hold. I've found that quality has fallen over the years for even the same brands I've purchased previously, so make sure that you read RECENT reviews to be certain that has not happened. Naturally, you want to put the heaviest items on the lower shelves and try to distribute weight evenly for any shelving you buy. That said, we have at least 15 wire shelf racks in our large basement, garage, and in our home of various brands, but the MZG shelves are the sturdiest ones I've ever purchased. Read more
