I tried this out on a large van with a battery that was at 8.5v. After I attached the starter it measured 16v (and this was while connected to a dead battery that's drawing power from the starter - i.e. really good). I went into the car and it started after just an extra second or two compared to a normal start. When I took it home to charge it, it was basically full even after doing that. It also has a tire inflator, making this an excellent kit to keep in your car at all times. The instructions say to charge it every 3 months, I'll have to leave it in a car for 3 months, and then check the charge level and update this review. Suffice it to say I'm very pleased with this product!! It also comes in a nice zippered protective case. I've been carrying jumper cables in the my cars for decades, this is SO much better and faster - see with a jumper cable you have to actually charge the dead battery for a little while because the voltage from the other car is only 14.5v so the dead battery has to help start the car, but with this you can directly start even with a completely dead battery!
