This is my first 8Bitdo controller; I use Switch 2 Pro controllers with that console, and Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers when I stream from my gaming PC to my Steam Link in my living room. I recently bought an Analogue 3D for that sweet nostalgia and wanted to see how a modernized controller would feel. I'm very happy so far. Build quality feels excellent, the stick (though stubby like a Gamecube stick) feels robust and is satisfying to use in the games I've played so far (Turok 2, Armorines, Battletanx, Shadows of the Empire, and Battlezone) and the buttons themselves feel excellent. The N64 color is fun for nostalgia purposes, but it also helps my sons find the correct buttons faster (A versus B for example), which could be a plus for others as well (versus an all black or white controller). Lastly, being able to wake the Analogue from sleep by holding Start is so nice, though I imagine the regular versions of this controller do that also. Definite recommend from me Read more

This is officially the definitive N64 controller, idc what anybody says! It’s absolutely perfect in literally every way! It’s perfect for original hardware, Switch 2, emulation on PC, etc! Thank you SO much for making this controller! Read more

Purchased this to go with my other recent purchase of a white Analogue 3D. The white controller was tempting for that “clean” look, but the lack of coloured buttons on that version slightly missed the mark. At the end of the day, I’m OK with the “original” grey version of this controller, and I still think it’s aesthetically decent next the white A3D. Visually, it’s close enough to the original. However, I think they could have gotten “closer”, though I’m not sure where Nintendo draws the line with IP infringement. For example, the surface is ever so slightly smoother than the original, the joystick doesn’t sit within a dark grey ring at the base, a depressed channel connecting the A and B buttons is missing, the letter C is missing from the center of the C buttons, the distance of the A/B buttons from the C buttons is slightly off, and the original A/B buttons are convex, whereas they are flat on the 8BitDo. These are all, of course, picky details I’ve pointed out. As far as modern controllers go at matching the Analogue 3D, you can’t go wrong here. Although I do wish the white version maintained the multi coloured buttons. Read more

This controller is exactly what I want from a modern N64 controller. I've been using a RetroFighters Brawler64 for a long while now, and the control stick is worn down and the buttons stick all the time. I've used 8BitDo products in the past, and I have faith this one will hold up for a good long while. Hoping they make a translucent version at some point in the future. Read more

Works great with my Switch and feels surprisingly natural to use. I'm so used to two-stick gaming on Xbox that playing Perfect Dark again felt clunky at first, but it wasn't the controller's fault: once muscle memory kicked in, it felt like old times. My hands are too big now to comfortably deal with the three-handle setup of the OG N64 controllers like I did as a kid, so I love this design. The colors of the "Grey" design match the classic, and somehow the plastic shell even feels like how I remember the originals. What it is: A modernized shape for the classic N64 controls that can connect to Switch (original, OLED, Switch 2). It's the same overall shape as a Switch Pro controller (see pics). Designed pretty specifically to play Nintendo 64 games on the Switch, but still usable for other platforms. On the 'change controller/grip order' screen, this even shows up as the classic three-handle N64 controller. For NES/SNES/GBA emulators on Switch, you can remap controls, so it should work fine for those. What it is NOT: It doesn't have an X or Y button, so I can't recommend this for actual Switch or Switch 2 games or the Gamecube Classics emulator. It also doesn't have the Controller Pak port, so while rumble support is built in, you won't be able to use a Transfer Pak. Read more

Only wish I have is that it was shaped like the original. While it works great with the wireless adaptor on my n64 and hooked up to my pc to play as well, there are some games that you need that old style. This is my 3rd 8bitdo controller and can reccomend them above almost any other controller out there. Read more

I purchased this controller exclusively for use on my PC, unfortunately the 8BitDo "Ultimate Software" for remapping buttons does not support this controller. Meaning that you are stuck with the c buttons mapped to the right analog stick. So if you're trying to use it with a something that doesn't recognize an analog stick as four discrete inputs, those buttons just do not work. Read more

Works perfectly, easy to use on both a Nintendo Switch 2 and a PC, buttons are responsive and the joystick feels pretty accurate. It’s a tiny bit smaller than I was expecting but it’s almost not noticeable Read more
