These come ready to use and they are super easy. You get quite a few too. I am currently cycling a fish tank right now and these strips test pretty accurately compared to my liquid kits for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, but I honestly got these for GH and KH levels since I am thinking of getting some shrimp. 7-in-1 works fine. The ammonia strip is junk. I tested it against the API master test kit. I guess the 7-in-1 is a good fast indicator. but unfortunately you're going to need the liquid test kit to properly test for ammonia. The test strips are showing 0 for ammonia, but I have a cycling tank that was testing over 4 ppm with the API master test kit. Read more

It's there! Don't worry. The 8-in-1 includes a separate ammonia test strip. It's sealed in a silver foil pouch inside the jar. I almost threw away the silver bag thinking it was silica gel. It's actually the ammonia test, sealed separately in the foil. Peel the seal all the way off! I have to say, since they separated the ammonia test into its own pouch, the readings have been incredibly accurate. No more cross-instruction like with other strips. Just peel off that foil seal, grab the silver pouch inside, and you'll see the difference. Read more

I got these to quickly test my fresh-water aquariums. I have an API test kit that has been reliable. But, my wife wanted something easier to use. The reason why I purchased these strips was because there was an ammonia pad. Unfortunately, that's the one pad that doesn't work... at all. My API test kit will show higher concentrations of ammonia and the AAwipes will show nothing. The rest of the pads appear to be mostly accurate. But, if you're looking for test strips to test ammonia, don't get these. Read more
