Best Mac mini hub with extra ports.

bobbyinpaAugust 25, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Excellent build using aluminum, padded nicely inside. First thing after 24 hours running is this does not get hot. I have two Samsung 990 + EVO each two TB installed. The push-pin rubber securing the SSD is a great touch. The extra thick SSD thermal tape is easy to apply and keeps contact with aluminum door hatch. Another nice touch is they include a screwdriver but it is not magnetized so be careful. Also included is a power plug and USB C type cable but I find it is not needed. Read write speeds very acceptable. I agree with most comments that the blue LED light showing the hub is powered on is too bright so I set my hub facing away from my eyes. Rubberized feet keep it in place. This is a keeper. Read more

That bright blue light is my only complaint!

This thing is SOLID and good in most every way. Comes with a screwdriver and a power plug and USB-C to USB-C cable, plus the connecting cable to the hub that looks to be rated 40GB/s. The Mac Mini slides into the nicely cusioned interior tightly but not too tight. The design is pretty spectacular, as even the screw for the SD enclosure has a back to it so it doesn't get lost. My two SSDs seem to be 30-40% faster than in the generic enclosures they were in previously, which I didn't expect. Having two inside the hub saves me a thunderbolt port on the back of the Mini. Not sure how useful having two DisplayPort adapters on the back is going to be for me. HDMI, USB-A, or almost anything else would have been better. The ports on the front are useful, though, and they supply power. And the SD-card readers are fast and excellent quality. The mini-SD even has that spring-push-in style. There is a power button on the side to cycle power for the Mac Mini, so that minor gripe of having to lift the device to get to the power button is solved. A bit of a nitpick is that there is a power light on the front beneath the power button, which I expect I will always leave turned on (since I want the Mac to see my SSDs at boot). It's tiny and bright blue. It's not as bright as other's I've seen, but it tends to catch my eye and clashes with the white LED on the front of the Mac Mini. I suspect I'll get used to it, but for now, I'll deduct a star from a perfect grade. I've tried many different hubs, and all were eventually returned. This one is the winner with the dual SSDs and the fact that on it's side, it takes up less shelf-space. The Mini Mac Pro look, works for me, as does the SD slots on top instead of in the front. The Ultimate All-in-One Upgrade for My Mac Mini M4 Setup

Richard BallinOctober 10, 2025✓ Verified purchase

UPDATED REVIEW. Original review is at the end of this new one where I originally gave 5 of 5 stars. Very disappointed with ACASIS support. 1.0 out of 5 stars Power Failure and Zero Customer Support – A Costly Disappointment! Originally, I was excited about this unit for its RAID SSD capabilities, card readers, and multiple ports, which integrated well with my Mac setup for efficient storage and connectivity. It seemed like a solid investment at $199, handling my workflow smoothly for the first few months. Update (February 2026): Less than a full year after purchasing this on September 17th, disaster hit. I entered my office to access the RAID SSDs, but couldn't find the folder on my Mac where they typically mount when connected. My keyboard also stopped working. At first, I thought the keyboard had failed, but during troubleshooting, I realized the power light on the side of the unit (housing the SSDs, card readers, and ports) was off. After extensive checks, it became clear the power component had completely died. Using the contact info from my Amazon order details, I reached out to the company multiple times through various channels, but got absolutely no response. Frustrated, I contacted Customer service for help. While they couldn't directly connect with the company or facilitate a return/replacement, the supervisor kindly offered a substantial credit toward my original $199 purchase price. This allowed me to buy a different unit that better suits my needs. However, when setting up the new unit with the two SSDs from the old one, I discovered they too had been damaged by whatever short circuit fried the original device – despite it being connected to a UPS for surge protection. Fortunately, Western Digital/SanDisk is honoring their warranty, and the SSDs are being replaced through the RMA process. Overall, the lack of reliability and non-existent support from the manufacturer turned this into a nightmare. I'd advise looking elsewhere for a more dependable option. ******************************************************* 5.0 out of 5 stars - The Ultimate All-in-One Upgrade for My Mac Mini M4 Setup I've been using the ACASIS 40Gbps Mac mini M4 Dock with Dual-Bay NVMe SSD Enclosure for about a month now, and it's transformed my compact Mac Mini M4 Pro into a full-fledged creative workstation without any cable clutter or compromises. As someone who does video editing, photo work, and light 3D rendering, this dock has been a game-changer—delivering the speed, storage, and connectivity I need in one sleek aluminum package. Right out of the box, setup was a breeze. The included 40Gbps Thunderbolt cable connects seamlessly to the back of my Mac Mini, and the dock acts as both a stand and enclosure, elevating my setup while securely housing the Mini. I popped in two 4TB NVMe SSDs (B+M M-Key, up to 8TB each supported) with the provided thermal pads and screws—no tools beyond the included screwdriver needed. Configuring RAID 0 via macOS Disk Utility gave me blazing-fast combined speeds hitting around 2,800 MB/s read/write, perfect for scrubbing through 4K timelines in Final Cut Pro. Transferring a 50GB project folder took under a minute, and the SSD status LEDs keep me informed at a glance. The ports are thoughtfully laid out and cover everything: three USB-A 10Gbps slots handle my external HDD, keyboard, and MIDI controller without a hitch (each delivering up to 4.5W, enough for low-power peripherals), while the dual SD/TF 4.0 readers make importing from my camera cards lightning-quick. For displays, the two DP 1.4 ports shine—I'm running one at 4K@144Hz for my main monitor and another at 4K@60Hz for a secondary screen, combined with the Mini's HDMI for a triple-display setup that's buttery smooth for multitasking. No lag, no flickering, even during intensive renders. Thermal management is impressive too. The aluminum body with side vents and dual silent fans (humming at about 52dB, barely noticeable) keeps everything under 60°C after hours of heavy use. The 30W PD adapter provides stable power, preventing any dropouts, and the front power button is a nice touch for quick on/off without digging behind the desk. It even minimizes WiFi interference thanks to the internal shielding—my signal strength hasn't dipped at all. The only minor quirk I noticed is that after a Mac reboot, the SSDs occasionally need a quick power cycle on the dock to remount, but it's rare and resolved in seconds. Overall, for the price, this is an unbeatable value compared to pricier options from OWC or Satechi—robust build, future-proof Thunderbolt 5/USB4 compatibility, and genuine 40Gbps bandwidth that doesn't starve your ports. If you're tired of dongle hell and want expandable storage on the cheap, grab this. Highly recommended for any M4 or M4 Pro owner! Read more

NVMe causes stability issues

Bryan DavisOctober 31, 2025✓ Verified purchase

The good.....the chasis is SOLID! The added connectivity is perfect for the new mini. HUGE flaw I found is that I cannot use a NVMe drive AND use a display port monitor at the same time without the DP cutting out every few minutes...I have to re-boot the hub side to get it back working. It's almost as if the power cannot keep up. Once I removed the NVMe, the display issues were resolved. I moved my NVMe to my NAS instead. *Update even after removing the NVMe, the unit continues to lose connection with the mac mini. I am having to consistently reboot the device. Read more
