Absolutely transformed my Mac mini! It looks so nice too! Read more
I really hate writing negative reviews, but this is one of the rare times I have to. First, it's really nice looking, and that's the reason I chose this model to replace an existing, plainer doc. Installing everything is straightforward and simple. I read my SSD drive with no problems. But, all that means nothing when every 5 minutes or so, the entire unit disconnects from my Mini 4 Pro. Anything I have plugged into it, of course, disappears. But, it will reconnect after that brief outage. What that means is that I can't reliably try to store information on the SSD drive or any external drive I have connected to it. If I have HDMI monitors connected, they blank, too, so I had to connect my ThunderBolt monitors to the main unit. The only troubleshooting I could really do is to swap out the short bridge USB cable between the Mini and the dock. I tried 4 different high speed USB data cables, including the bridge cable from the previous dock. Same symptoms with any cable. I'm so sad. I really wanted to like this dock. Read more
ACASIS Mac Mini M4 Dock Review The ACASIS Mac Mini M4 Dock is more than just an accessory; it's a comprehensive workstation expansion that addresses the Mac Mini's limitations in port connectivity and internal storage expansion. It functions as a stand, a multi-port hub, and a high-speed NVMe enclosure, all integrated into a seamless form factor designed to stack directly beneath the Mac Mini. ⭐ Overall Impression This dock transforms the Mac Mini M4 into a powerful, professional-grade desktop machine, particularly excelling in I/O speed and storage capability. The combination of a high-speed NVMe enclosure and dual-display outputs makes it indispensable for users in demanding creative fields like video editing and photography. ✨ Key Features & Performance Ultra-fast 40Gbps Transmission: This is the headline feature. The 40Gbps bandwidth ensures that even the largest files (like high-resolution video or massive sound libraries) transfer without bottlenecks. This speed is critical for maintaining a smooth workflow when accessing files stored on the external SSD or utilizing connected peripherals. NVMe Enclosure with 8TB Expansion: The integrated NVMe enclosure is a game-changer. It allows you to add high-speed, enormous storage—supporting up to 8TB—directly into the dock. This modular, fast storage is far superior to standard external hard drives and allows creatives to keep their entire project library immediately accessible. Dual DisplayPort (2*DP) Outputs: For video editors and designers who rely on multi-monitor setups, the inclusion of two dedicated DisplayPort outputs is vital. This provides a clean, high-resolution solution for connecting two external displays, greatly increasing screen real estate for complex timelines and workspaces. Integrated Connectivity Hub: It solves the Mac Mini's common port deficiency by adding a variety of useful inputs: 3 USB-A Ports: Essential for connecting legacy peripherals like keyboards, mice, audio interfaces, and external drives. SD/TF (SD Card/MicroSD) Slots: Perfect for photographers and videographers for quickly ingesting media from cameras without needing separate card readers. Seamless Design: The unit functions as a stand, integrating perfectly beneath the Mac Mini M4 to maintain a clean, organized, and space-saving desktop footprint. 👍 What We Liked Professional Throughput: The 40Gbps speed keeps up with the M4 chip’s performance, ensuring fast data transfer for demanding tasks. Massive & Fast Storage: The support for high-capacity NVMe SSDs (up to 8TB) provides professional-grade storage directly beneath the computer. Creator-Focused Ports: Dual DisplayPort and built-in SD card readers directly cater to the needs of video editors and photographers. 👎 Considerations Mac Mini M4 Specific: The dock is specifically designed for the Mac Mini M4, meaning compatibility with older or future models may be limited. Thermal Management: With high-speed NVMe SSDs, the quality of the dock's thermal management is crucial to sustain top speeds, which is a key factor to verify in long-term use. Cabling: While integrated, connecting a dock of this complexity (power, multiple displays, high-speed data) may still require careful cable routing to maintain a truly clean setup. Read more
Beautiful. Wanted to love it. Unfortunately it has constant disconnects when trying to use the display ports and hard drive at the same time. Read more
First thing is that this is not thunderbolt. It is only a type c device. This means that you are not going to get the maximum speed out of the thunderbolt port. Regardless of this, it still decent speeds. It is easy to place the mac mini into the device. It is secured to the dock and integrates well so you do not have to worry about it sticking out. There is still access that allows you access to the power switch and the original plugs. The material and color of the device blends well with the mac so it looks like i is just one unit. Because it is enclosed, I have a hard time noticing it is two different unit. It also provides decent space between the devices so you can get a bit of air flow. There is a stand on the bottom. I like that there is a grip on the bottom to keep it from sliding. The cable plug easily into the back. It is a very short cable to help provide you less cable to manage. I do wish it was a right angle cable but at least you can change the cable. I like how there additional ports so I am able to plug in usb devices. I am able most USB devices through this dock. I have not had any issues as of yet with power distribution. The material is pretty sturdy but the aluminum still prone to scratches. The mac slots into place pretty well for the most part. You are able to still have access to more ports and the power on the device. The connection is solid for the most part. It was pretty much plug and play as I have had no issues with detection. It does plug into one thunderbolt ports so you may need to install software to get additional monitors. Regardless, it was automatically detected. The m.2 drive fits well and if does provide you with a simple heat sink. The read write speed is not bad but it depends on the drive. The device functions well while giving you access to usb ports again as well as a card reader. I was able to plug in multiple devices without any issues. The card reader works well. The transfer speed is not bad but again you are sacrificing a thunderbolt port in order to get this to work but I have had no issues with powering my USB devices. Overall this is a good closure to give you more ports while also trying to stick to a mac prop tower. It is only compatible with certain minis and may not support multivideo output. The dock is well built and made. Read more
