Sony should have made the original SSD cover vented because the PS5 pulls air in directly over the top of the SSD cover. The SSD can get extremely hot under intense gaming so making more ventilation for your $200 to $400 SSD investment was an easy choice for me. It also comes with the necessary tools to help keep it clean with long-term use. Read more
Unlike some of the after market cooling products that actually blow air IN to systems OUTtake vents in the back, this will do no harm from an engineering or heating standpoint. No idea if any noticeable improvements, or any improvements at all will result? But it’s a cool modification you can make to you machine if you have an extra $13. Being that the intake (cooler air) pulls in from the front of the PS5 very close to where this plate is located, it could theoretically make sense that it could provide better air flow over the SDD. Either way I am happy I bought it. Sometimes even if just placebo effect, it may be worth $13 dollars to certain people. Read more
