The base is tempered glass and the hose is sturdy and better than my former which was plastic. This hose is not plastic. It has great suction and release. The shish bowl is silicone and not shallow which is nice. The lighting is a fun feature. It does not include batteries (AAA). It is perfect for in home light weight and efficient hookah use.
