There are so many yoga mats available these days and there are only so many ways that one mat can distinguish itself from its peers. It helps to be very aware of what you want in a mat. For example, do you prize 'lightweight' or 'cushiony'. These two preferences often live on opposites sides of the choice you'll want make. This adidas Yoga Mat call itself 'thick', but it actually leans hard in the 'lightweight' direction. It is a very firm mat. The 8mm thickness by itself signals that it's not a 'thick' or 'cushiony' mat and the type of material itself is dense. This is a lightweight yoga mat. If you want to move it around, say back and forth between home and gym, this may well be the mat for you. If you want deep cushion, it probably is not. Judge the product on its merits. I received this yoga mat through the Vine program, but the opinions in this review are completely unbiased and my own. Hopefully the review will provide some insight of the product before buying it. As a basic yoga mat, it does the job but I was looking for one that was plusher. Some people prefer a firmer yoga mat but my preference is one that is slightly softer that cushions my back. I definitely prefer my last yoga mat which was slightly softer and proivided more cushion. Pros: -It's pretty lightweight and thin. -The ridged pattern on the bottom keeps the yoga mat in place on both hard floors as well as on carpet. Cons: -Very basic yoga mat. It's easy to roll up but doesn't come with anything to keep it rolled up. It does stay rolled up when placed upright but it would have been nice to have a strap to keep it tightly bound. I just purchased a strap that doubles as a carry strap. -1/4 inch thickness keeps the yoga mat thin but it makes the yoga mat pretty firm. I was looking for a mat with more of a memory foam cushion. I am very happy with this yoga mat. It is lightweight. I have a strap that fits over both ends and it is easy to carry. It rolls up fairly tightly and fits in a bag if I don't want to carry it over my shoulder. The mat has good texture to it. My feet and hands don't slip when I'm using it. It is also quite thick, providing a nice cushion on a hard floor. The corners tend to stay up a bit after I unroll it, but I think they'll flatten with more use. I like the green color too. It is soothing to look at and dark enough to show dirt between cleanings. My other mat was getting old and a little worn. I'm glad to have this as a replacement. Read more

I got my own mat for exercising, as I tend to get sweaty and felt bad about leaving a sweaty mat for someone else to pick up and use later. I'm glad I did, because this mat is so much better than the ones at the gym! The gym mats are designed for durability over comfort, so much so that they're barely more comfortable than laying on a tile floor. This mat is much softer and doesn't make my knees or wrists hurt when I'm kneeling/laying on it, even sit-ups feel alright on my spine! Pros: - very soft and comfortable - durable - plenty of grip, even with sweaty hands - lots of color options Cons: - pricier than some other options - not as thick as other mats This yoga mat would make a great addition to any home gym!
