I find them very useful
I have just started walking for fitness and these seemed a perfect way to burn some more calories without getting extra sweaty. I really like that the weights are adjustable, because when they first arrived, I took most of the little bags out so I could get used to them gradually. Each week I put a bag back in and now I'm up to the full amount. I can definitely feel that they're there but they don't slow me down much. I am thinking about eventually progressing to heavier weights for my ankles and putting these on my wrists; they are a little bulky there but just for walking I don't think that would matter much and since I like to keep my hands free (I hate carrying things) they are better than free weights. The Velcro straps are very strong (it's practically its own workout for the arms pulling it loose!) and haven't given any indication that they will slip while I'm wearing them. The one thing that bugs me, though, is that they are identical instead of mirrored so it's kind of awkward putting one on my left leg. They're easy to put on and take off and while I don't know for a fact that they have positively impacted my workouts I feel like they must be doing *something*, so placebo effect for the win! EDIT: I did buy the 10 lb. weights and while they are a lot bulkier than the 5 lb. weights I got used to them pretty quickly. The single strap held them securely despite the extra weight. The 5 lb. weights do slide a little on my wrists (I do arm raises while walking) but it isn't so annoying that I can't deal with it. Read more
