I got this set of dumbbells to help me with my range of motion and to maintain upper body muscles. I am retired and have had a chronic shoulder injury for a long time. My challenge has been progressing from the two pound dumbbells directly to the five pound, as recommended by physical therapy, when doing my exercise program to strengthen my shoulder area and maintain (regain) range of motion (a serious challenge for me). Also, those sets of standard steel dumbbells take up a lot of space! I also like the look of the set. At the core of this set are two - 2.2 pound (one kilo) bars. The bars themselves are not completely round. Each has opposing sides that are flattened. This makes grasping onto them and not having them spin very easy. There are ridges at each end of the bars which line up with my index and pinky fingers, enhancing the grip ability. The additional twelve add-on weights, .55 pounds each, slide on easily and lock in place securely. Two of the weights are one sided and for use on the ends. There is no wobble when using. I really appreciate that I can add a pound at a time (.55 x 2 per bar bell) rather than jumping up by two or three pounds at a time. I was concerned the plastic coating wouldn’t feel comfortable when exercising, but I was wrong. The coating is easier on my hands than my standard steel ones. The bells themselves are rounded squares and required storage space is minimal, since I just have to store one set of bar bells now - yay! The semi-matte lavender surface wipes down easily after each use. The quality of this set is very good and I anticipate it will outlast me. Overall, a I find this set a good value for my needs and lifestyle. Read more

Since I work from home and spend way too many hours sitting at a desk, I’ve been trying to slowly add more movement into my day. Nothing extreme, just small workouts here and there to keep my body from turning into a decorative desk chair accessory. That’s what made me curious about this adjustable dumbbell set. I’ve owned individual dumbbells before, and the biggest issue with them is space. Before this, I bought separate sets of 2 lb, 3 lb, and 4 lb dumbbells and it ended up costing me around $30 total. If I had added a 5 lb set it would have pushed it closer to $47, and then I’d have four different pairs of weights floating around the room. This set solves that problem pretty nicely. Each dumbbell adjusts between 2.2, 3.3, 4.4, and 5.5 pounds using a simple interlocking system. You just press the buttons and slide the weight pieces in or out depending on what you want. It’s quick, and once everything clicks into place it feels secure. They also feel good in the hands. The handle has a comfortable grip and I don’t feel like I’m going to lose control of them even when my hands get a little sweaty during a workout. The square-style ends are also helpful because they don’t roll away when you set them down on the floor. For around $36, the value makes sense to me. You’re essentially getting two adjustable dumbbells that cover multiple weight levels without needing to buy several separate pairs. These obviously aren’t meant for heavy strength training, but for toning exercises, light strength work, or quick workouts at home they work really well. They’re also compact enough that I can tuck them away easily, which is important since my “home gym” is basically just a small corner of a room. Overall, I think this is a great little set if you want adjustable weights without taking up a ton of space. They’re easy to use, comfortable to hold, and a practical option for light training or anyone building a small home workout setup. Read more

I used to weight train faithfully but the hassle and cost of going to the gym took its toll. When I saw these Hamjoiet dumbbells for women, I decided to ramp my fitness level up a notch and try lifting weights at home. When they arrived, neatly and securely bundled in deep foam pockets, I looked them over carefully. Right off the bat, they checked all my boxes: well designed, simple to use, compact, and made to last. They're fabricated from a tough and durable polymer and have a clever, square shape that prevents accidental rolling. I knew they were small, but I was still amazed by how little space they actually did take up. Assembling them was a piece of cake. They come with a 2.2 pound starter weight as part of the grip. To add weight, you line up the notch with the clip, and slide the additional disc onto it, where they automatically lock into place. To remove weights, you simply press the release button and pull them apart. Modifying the resistance for different exercises is quick and easy. I couldn't wait to try them out, so I improvised a quick routine with some upper body exercises - curls, overhead extensions, and raises. The ergonomic grip kept the bar stable throughout my impromptu routine, and left me feeling confident planning full sessions for later on. These dumbbells are a game changer for me. They're not only remarkably functional and well made, they have also made it possible for me to stick to a regular workout regimen at home. I give them a solid five stars. Read more
