The adjustable straps provide a secure, comfortable fit without diggin into my skin or restricting movement. The material is sturdy and supportive, giving my shoulder the stability it needs without feeling overly stiff. I’ve worn it for hours at a time while at work. I load bags onto planes at the airport it stays in place without slipping or needing constant adjustments. For an understanding, I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. This means that full dislocations and subluxation of joints is a standard occurrence for me. I have an assortment of compression braces that I wear fairly often but shoulder braces have always been as issue. I am 5’9”, 160 lbs with a 13.5 inch forearm and a C cup. As a woman, this brace is slanted to go mostly over the peck and breast tissue, which is a huge plus and fits the cap of the shoulder without rubbing or biting into the neck. The cuff of the forearm easily adjusts to my arm but leaves the hook and loop material to rub against the skin. I highly recommend wearing this over a thicker shirt to avoid skin irritation for prolonged use. The strap is plenty long enough, almost too long to adjust this easily with one hand. Once adjusted, the strap stays stable and in place without worries of coming loose. The issue I have is between breast tissue and getting this product tight enough to offer the compression and support after a subluxation or dislocation, the strap digs uncomfortably into the opposite armpit of the supported shoulder. The strap is soft but not enough to be comfortable for prolonged wear and not at all designed to be worn without protective garments underneath. Where as I believe this brace would work well for supporting a weak shoulder, without added padding to the arm strap and the chest strap, this brace isn’t the best for assist the healing process of an injury were prolonged wear is needed. I ordered this "FigureUp Shoulder Brace for Shoulder Pain Relief – Neoprene Adjustable Compression Sleeve" because I had a wicked bad fall and messed up my shoulder to a point that it may require a shoulder replacement if the bones/RC can't be fixed in surgery. I was put in a sling at the Surgeon's office and given orders to use ice and not use my arm - which is a joke because I can't lift my arm to use it. The pain in my broken biceps tendon and RC is excruciating, and an ice bag on my shoulder wasn't giving me relief. I needed compression in my upper arm and shoulder and ice. This FigureUp Should brace arrived yesterday and I asked my DH to help me get it on correctly and get the ice positioned to relieve the pain. A zippered plastic bag of ice was our starting point,it helped for a short while, but the ice started thawing quickly.My arm/shoulder is swollen and hot,so it's encouraging the thaw. We switched the ice cubes out for a thick gel pack of ice after my DH tried to put a hard plastic ice block on my shoulder and I screeched,hard things pushed into a destroyed shoulder is a very bad idea. The large icy gel pack sticks outside of the pouch,but it gets both my upper arm and my shoulder and it doesn't hurt my shoulder. I am pleasantly chilled now and I have more gel packs in the freezer. You can't keep ice on an injury constantly,you have to put it on for 30 minutes and then take 30 minutes off. This brace is easy to put on and take off after you fit it to your body. The Velcro patches on the ice spot make it easy to remove the ice and tighten up the compression during the ice being off phase. I am waiting for CT approval from our insurance company, and once that is done, I'll be waiting to get on the Surgeon's operation schedule. This brace and my ice packs have to get me through what may be two months before surgery. This brace is well made and will hold up,but I think I'm going to order another one so I have it now, and after surgery. Braces need to be washed, so having two makes sense. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and for what it is, it is pretty comfortable. I especially like the little Velcro shoulder cap inside the brace. You can adjust the Velcro to make the shoulder area fit properly and provide more or less immobilization. I wear a 2x T-shirt, and the biceps strap fit around my really big arm. The chest strap was almost twice as long as I needed it to be. Neoprene, of course, is not breathable, but I guess the material options are limited for this sort of product. There are no rough or scratchy spots or lumpy seams - none of the things that might cause irritation. That's a huge plus. Of course, with this sort of device, it's not so much a matter of how much fun it is to wear it as it is about minimizing the discomfort of wearing it when you have no choice but to wear it. But, still, this is not bad at all. It doesn't chafe or bind. It's soft. I do wish there was a way to ventilate these things so that they wouldn't be hot, though. Read more
This helped keep me from moving my shoulder when I injured it. It gave a strong grip of support to keep it in place when I moved around or stood up. It fit without any issues. The sling isn't too heavy nor is it flimsy. I didn't have any issues getting it on. Read more
I ordered this for my husband because he has a sore shoulder. He's always in pain and nothing really helps except pushing on it and ice. I thought this would help since it says it offers targeted compression. Either we didn't put it on right, his arm is too big or it's just not right for him because he had absolutely NO pain relief nor compression from it and was in even more pain than before.
