This is the perfect weighted vest! It is six pounds without any added weights. Perfect to start wearing it. I will add two pounds each week until I have used all of the weights. This arrived today and out of the box, it is a nice vest. It's very comfortable with the weight distribution being balanced. It seems very well made. It comes with good information on how to properly wear it and an instruction booklet with samples on how to use it, number of reps, and how to increase gradually. I wore it on my walk this evening with the 6 lbs base weight and found it very comfortable and easy to move it it. Excited to see how this helps with my physical health with regular use. I bought this model and brand based on reviews and the fact that it has adjustable weight options. It's nice to know that I can easily increase and decrease weights and distribution based on my progress and activities. Also, weight pockets are both in the front and back, again allowing for comfortable distribution. For the price, I'm really happy with the quality and flexibility this offers. Reflection strips are a plus for night walks. Some people mentioned a chemical odor. It had a very light smell, but I have it a few spritzes of Febreze and let it air out before I used it. I kept reading how a weighted vest would be helpful to add to walks, so did some research and ordered this one. I can really tell the difference already, and have added two more weights to the vest, with two more to go. I do at least 7,000 to 8,000 steps per day, usually 3,000 to 4,000 right after breakfast, and the rest after supper. It has not made me more tired - I actually feel more energetic. Dave S's wife bought this and is the one reviewing it. I love this vest! It is exactly as described. I like that it is made so that I put my head through the opening to put it on. I first one I tried (which I bought at and returned to Walmart) was the type where you put the vest on like a jacket, by putting your arms through arm holes. I couldn't put it on without assistance because it was too heavy. It also was just one weight. I like this one better because I can add more weight as I get stronger. Right now, the 6 pound beginning weight is just right for me. I put it on when I go on my daily walks. I can feel the difference in my walks being more challenging. I am petite (5' and 110 lbs.) and can adjust the straps so that the vest fits snugly. I did NOT notice an objectional odor as other reviewers have. It appears to be very well made. I would recommend this vest. The only problem I had has nothing to do with the vest, but with Amazon. When I put the vest in my cart, it said the shipping was free.
