I'm pleased with this office chair mat. I just put it down and it looks good and functions as represented. The price was also very reasonable. I ordered the clear mat for a hardwood floor and kept it at room temperature for 3 days before unrolling it. Then flipped it over and laid it flat and placed books and objects on the corners to hold it flat for a couple hours. Then put it in place under the desk, and it works fine. There is an odor from the plastic which takes a few days to go away. This doesn't bother me, but some of the reviews have mentioned it. I would recommend following the instructions and not unfolding the mat until you keep it at room temperature for at least 2 days. Read more
Been using this for several months with no problems. Really protects my floor which previously was getting chewed up by the wheels of my chair. Does slide a few inches, but I just need to scoot it back in place about once a week. Read more
Took awhile to flatten it out, but once it is, this works well. Thick enough to protect the carpet and no leave marks in it Read more
These are nice chair mats that protect the (in our case vinyl plank) floor. If you follow the instructions that say to unroll, & reverse roll them, & then lay them on a clean surface they lay flat fairly quick. We have two of these downstairs and they work great. The only complaint is that they smell skunky for a short period of time. We actually purchased this one for a friend & they are very happy with it too. One thing that may help is to lay them outside on a warm day before bringing them into your home. That helps to rid them of the skunky smell. It does eventually go away. We are very pleased with these, they also do not generate too much static charge on them. Which is great if you are using these near computers/electronics. Our only real complaint is that our local postal delivery person laid this package on the ground below our mailbox😡 this is NOT a complaint against Amazon or the manufacturer but, USPS. Read more
UPDATE-downgrade to 1 star: About 2 months after I wrote the original review the smell came back with a vengeance. I tried various cleaners, sun-baking, etc. to no avail. I am tossing this and going for the tempered glass mat Original Review was 3 stars: From the moment I unpacked the box this mat stunk. I left it in the garage for a week, I wiped it down with lysol, I tried Windex, and nothing worked. I thought it dissipated enough and put it in my office. I love this mat for my hardwood floor. But the next day my office had that smell that even the air purifier couldn't get out. I finally took it outside and scrubbed it with Dawn on both sides and let it bake on the driveway in the sun for 3 hrs on each side. That finally did the trick. It shouldn't have had to be this hard to get rid of the smell, but the mat is the perfect size and thickness. Read more
Very pleased so far. You need to unroll it, weight it flat, and leave it in the warm sun for a day before installing. Its about 1/8" thickness and fairly transparent Read more
The chemical smell coming off this mat was so strong (even after a number of weeks of airing out) that I rolled it back up and threw it out. Read more
The mat does NOT smell as some say or at least mine did not smell. The mat was easy to unroll. Laid flat as soon as I laid it out and room where I did so was 62 degrees. The mat is very thin but appears to be durable. It is also smaller than the previous mats I had but then I purchased my previous mats at Office Max and paid 3Xs the price of this mat. For the money, this is perfect. When it wears out, one can easily purchase another. It does slide on my laminate flooring but I just pushed it under my desk and it stays in place. Very satisfied.
