The massager itself is very quite but I noticed this does depend on the level you have it on. When it comes to being soft, it really is super soft. I picked this up mostly for my neck and shoulders since they get pretty tight after sitting at my desk all day, and I wanted something I could easily toss in my gym bag. The silicone material is super soft and smooth, so it doesn't drag on your skin which is a huge plus. Its actually way stronger than I expected given how small it is, the vibrations are intense enough to help with the tension. However, having 20 modes feels like overkill because I really only use the first two constant settings, cycling through all the pulsing patterns just to get back to the start is kinda annoying. Also the buttons are flush with the handle so its hard to find them without looking, I keep hitting the pattern button instead of the speed one. The battery lasts a decent amount of time but it does take a while to charge back up fully. Its definitely quiet, my roommate didn't even notice it while the TV was on.
