I wanted to get 2k resolution out of an old graphics card and I needed this cable to do so. The old graphics card is an hd 6950 2gb and is my backup gaming computer so when my other computer is doing video encoding and other things. Any ways at first I thought this didn't work but I looked up a youtube video that told me to disconnect both ends and reconnect about 20-30 seconds later and it will work. To my amazement that actually fixed the issue I was having with it. So this does what I wanted it to do and that was to connect my graphics card to my dp input on my Dell 32 inch 4k 60hz curved monitor. Older graphics cards such as my hd 6950 2gb will not support 2k resolution with hdmi and will only work with this mini display port to display port to get a higher resolution. Otherwise you'll be stuck on hdmi 1080p/1200p resolution which does not look good at all. 4k monitors look good at 4k and 2k resolution especially bigger monitors such as my 32 inch monitor. Anyways this does the job and Amazon has good products when it comes to dp cables. I also have a dp cable that I sometimes use on my rx 5500 xt 4gb which is the graphics card I use for 4k gaming. Obviously that's not a real 4k graphics card but i don't feel like spending a couple grand to get a 4k gaming gpu that will max everything out in games. I'm good with tweaking settings for now. Eventually I want to upgrade my gpu for my other computer but that really has nothing to do with this review other than I love Amazon Basic products. They don't have that button thingy on them like other brands which is always a plus to me because i scraped the back of my monitor with other dp cable brands So I highly recommend Amazon Basic products. Before this cable, I was using the one shipped with my 1440p Dell monitor. Over time, the mDP connector became unreliable and didn't plug well into my computer anymore. In addition, the cable part began to be affected by some kind of interference that interrupted its signal intermittently, causing my multi-screen setup to fully rearrange every minute or so–a major pain and productivity issue.
