It was time to replace my husband's raggedy denim shorts, so I chose these. The denim is a heavier weight, which holds up well, but it is also pretty stiff. I usually upsize denim to allow for shrinkage, but I wish I hadn't in this case. The waistband measured an inch larger than the 40 I ordered, and there was minimal shrinkage after washing and drying. With the shorts already being relaxed fit, they are pretty baggy, and the stiff denim accentuates the bagginess. They are a good length on his 6' frame. I selected the dark wash, and there is a bit of fading that is expected when the description states "wash". The zipper works smoothly, and the fly lies flat, even after washing. The button is very difficult to work. I used a seam ripper to enlarge the buttonhole area a bit and that helped. It's not the shorts. They aren't very stretchy, nor should they be, but my waist is expanding, resulting in a tight fit. The size was close, perhaps just a touch small, if they shrink that may be an issue for me. The length was good, just slightly above the knee. The zipper worked fine, the fly button is a little tight, but I'm sure it will loosen up with use. The front pockets are riveted for extra strength, the back pockets are not riveted. I also like that the length falls around the knee. There are two things that I didn't care for- the lack of any stretch in the fabric, and for my taste, the legs look a little boxy. These shorts arrived well packaged and labeled. They seem to be well made and all of the stitching look good with no loose threads. The quality is comparable to many more expensive brands. The color matches what I expected based on the pictures shown. They are not rigid and stiff like some denim and instead feel soft with a slightly faded color that looks really good to me. These shorts look absolutely awesome when worn. The color is clean, the fit has a nice shape, and the stitching looks professional and well done. The issue I have with them is the fabric. The denim is much stiffer than expected and does not feel relaxed at all. Even though they are described as relaxed fit, they do not have that soft, easy feel you usually want in shorts. They may break in over time, but right out of the package they feel rigid and awkward doing simple things as getting in and out of a car. If you want jean shorts that look sharp and have solid construction, these deliver. If comfort and a relaxed feel are your top priorities, the stiffness will be noticeable, and most likely an issue.
