This is a miracle. Plenty of cotton in the mix and the texture is nice; not super thin but not heavy. My feet are size 9 and thus at the far end of the size but the fit is not tight. I'd buy 10 packs of these. Lovely little finely scalloped edge. ACTUALLY TALL ENOUGH for my leggy legs- these puppies go right up to the actual knee. Smooth and sturdy cotton- could it be genuine sock fingering-weight cotton? In THIS economy?? You bet your big toe it is! Thin in that strong fiber way, like a high quality percale hotel sheet. Baby your feet with socks that wear and last like your mother's socks did. (Or your grandmother's. Or whomever you associate with the quality of yesteryear.) I am surprised by how much I love these socks! They are so much nicer than I was expecting in several ways (1) height, (2) fabric, (3) overall look, (4) light-medium thickness. They are also an amazing value for a 4-pack at this price. Overall, I think these are basically the holy-grail for light knee socks for me, and I'm 100% going to buy more. First, these are truly knee socks--they actually cover my knees if I pull them all the way up as far as they will go (I'm 5'6). You don't have to wear them that way if you don't want to, but I like it when knee socks aren't too short, so this is a big selling point for me. Second, I also really like the fabric. I love 100% cotton, and the product listing says these are 75% Cotton, 19% Polyester, 4% nylon, 2% Spandex. So they've done the blend really nicely, because they feel great. There's a 'slimy' kind of feeling that many cheap socks have, and these DON'T have that at all. They feel cottony, plus some stretch. Perfect. I love the simple look. No branding anywhere--YAY! It's important to me that there isn't a giant brand name across the top of the foot. These are just simple gray and black socks without any branding, which is terrific. Lastly, I like the thickness. They are light-medium weight, which isn't easy to find. I have plenty of thick winter socks & don't need more of those. I need socks that are thin enough to fit inside all my shoes without problems, and keep me warm without overheating. These are a goldilocks 'just right' weight for me. They are thin enough to wear with all my shoes & not make me too hot, and thick enough to feel substantial. A quick note for Amazon, if anyone is looking: Please don't change these in any way!!!!! The length of these socks both foot and leg is perfect. These are not to loose or to tight. I'm 5'5" barefoot and my feet are slightly narrower than "average". But, my size 9.5 feet fit in these socks brilliantly. These come all the way up to the crook of my knees. The band is snug, but not tight. No indention at the end of the day. They are thin, not dress sock, not sweat sock. Just in-between. Great thickness for layering in these Sub-Zero Minnesota winter days. Pup still need walking and as I get older, my feet get colder.
