I put these in the bathrooms to have light at night. During the day, they still give off light, and I wish it were more dim during the day. At night, it gives off a little more light that expected, so if you can't sleep with light, then make sure it is not in direct view of your bed. It gives off a nice purple glow, and you can see well but not a bright light that wakes you up. I love this night light. The light provides just the right amount of illumination and color for a night light.
