I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my package, revealing this fabulous new writing pad; w/ the spiral being on top of pad, it enables me such a clean feeling surface to use as I write/draw/doodle in it. It has a perforated edge on top if you need to tear off a piece of paper, has a nice labeled Date & Topic space on top right corner..as well as a line to the left(@ the top of the pg.) for “titling” the pages, if you so choose. The paper is light yellow/cream in color w/ brown lines spaced not quite 1/2 inch apart.(Love!) paper is nice, thick weight & has a graphic print on the back. This is the ideal notepad. When you order it and receive a wide ruled notebook instead of the college ruled one you spent an hour trying to hunt down, you will roll with it. As soon as you lay pen to its paper you will quickly dismiss any dismay about ruling, because the large format invites you to jot down your ideas with resistance-free streamlined ease. The quad-ruled backside of each page provides a faint stability for navigating the hollow chasms between the lines, and with an ivory backdrop that exudes class. I am an avid fan of college rule pads, but this being as close as I could get to exactly what I would like in a notebook, I went for it. If Ampad manufactured this exact notepad but with college rule on the front side and in 9 x 6 format, I would pay an obscene amount of money for it. I love the ivory/vanilla color and that's what drew me to this notebook to begin with. But I am big on notebooks that have the spiral binding at the top and this one does. It also has a heading line at the top of the page and a date and topic box to the side. The back is like graph paper and that is so cool, and with the very stiff back, it's easy to write on it anywhere. I have bought several more since then and I am going to buy even more in case they become unavailable at some point. Read more

I like the ruled front and the graph squares on back. The papers is a good off white "ivory" color and is of a satisfactory weight for most purposes, (I personally would like a heavier paper and would be willing to pay a little extra for it). The top cover is sturdy and slick, it should repel most incidental moisture. The back is reasonably stiff but is made of a somewhat porous carboard material, would be great it it too had some moisture protection as the top does. Still, this product has three key feature hard to find, 1. non-white, not too flimsy paper, 2. Ruled Front, Squares on back, 3. Pretty sturdy overall. This is too expensive a notebook to use for casual notes. However, if you are taking longhand notes for a class or working on a project and need to keep the notes for awhile, it's perfect. The quality of the paper, the spiral binding and the front and back covers are all superior. This notebook will not bend or warp under normal use. The pages will not become loose unless you pull them out. I know a previous reviewer was disappointed to not be adequately informed about the grid format on the back of the pages. But I consider this feature an asset if you may have to draw a diagram or use figures. My handwriting is large. I feel cramped taking notes in a smaller notebook, so this is just the thing for my desk. I wouldn't want to have to carry it around though. Read more

Love this writing pad. The paper is not that thin, thin paper you see on cheap notebooks. Sturdy back and I like the spiral on top. Lined on one side and grid on the other but I plan on using only the lined side. You do see a faint image of the grid showing through but doesn’t bother me at all. Creamy color which I like a lot. I was looking for a notepad that contained a sturdy front and back cover as well as a top bound spiral with heavy notebook paper with college ruled one side and graphic lines on the other. The notebook craftsmanship is superb, and it has a classic look. The paper soaks up ink so if you are writing with a fountain pen, the paper will soak in more ink then it needs to but that’s because of the quality. A ball point or rollerball pen is preferable, pencil is ok as well. I like the feel of this notebook, it just doesn’t remind me of being in high school, it feels like an adult professional notebook and it looks like it.
