This is a nice backup for my teen daughter when her phone was in for fixing and when she needed a new phone. The sound quality is good and the storage is fine for what it is. It's a smaller size, but good enough size to see a webpage just fine. It charges up pretty fast and the charge lasts a good while. It is very easy to use. I had actually gotten this with myself in mind for my music playlist, but it really saved us when my daughter was having phone troubles, she loves to listen to music and she downloaded other apps that she uses and was fine with it and it was even a conversation piece among her friends at lunch. She also used it for her music playlist on a trip we took. And still, if she forgets to charge her phone, she will use this until her phone is charged up, so she still uses it. Read more

I got this little mp3 player to use as my music player for my home stereo system. Yeah sure, I could just use my phone, and pair it with bluetooth, but if I'm scrolling on social media, I really don't want random audio playing on the loud speaker, especially if I have people over. It's basically a mini android phone, and can run a lot of the same apps like radio apps, and even videos. The large built in storage is great too for preloading your own music. I have a secod one for my car, and I don't have to worry about draining my phone battery for connecting it to music. It is built like a tank too so it seems to be pretty decent quality. Only two reasons I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it is a little slow to respond, but given the size, its pretty obvious why. The second reason is because it is soooooo small that it is really hard to type anything in a search bar. So if you're watching youtube or something, you're better off using your phone. As a standalone music device, it is a good machine. Read more

Nice device. Storage capacity is good for me (plenty of room for my music). Easy to use and set up. I also have a number of SD cards to install into this MP3. Durable enough (I wouldn't want to drop it). Bluetooth is a nice touch along with being WiFi capable. Sound quality is okay (contingent on your downloads). Battery life is sufficient. I recommend this device. Read more

I don't like to fill up all the memory on my phone with my music, preferring to save it for more necessary purposes. Accordingly, I have used MP3 players for years and have found some of them better than others. Some time back I had an earlier MP3 player from Fanvance and was quite pleased with it. When I saw this item with a faster processor and increased storage capacity, I thought it was worth a try. I couldn't be more pleased. Besides Bluetooth, WiFi and all the attendant streaming services, this little baby allows me to carry around a sizeable chunk of my music collection at all times. It would take literally weeks of full time listening to go through it all. This player connects easily to all my devices (earbuds, Bluetooth speakers, etc.) and performs flawlessly. If you want an up-to-date MP3 player of high quality, this item should be on your list. Read more

Why carry around another device, when your Smartphone can do (most of - even if not as well), the same things - plus all the things this MP3 player can't? Think, "instead of" rather than "in addition to". Why instead: PRIVACY. While this device has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, it doesn't have a SIM card. Yes, BT and Wi-Fi have vulnerabilities, but they are more easily managed in most situations. The personal data about you (or the "giftee"), using or stored on this device isn't as valuable or accessible - in most cases. If Privacy is not a concern, being smaller and lighter than a smartphone, that alone makes it a good "instead of" on its own. More, and any rating adjusting, in time. Read more

Update: Having now purchased a second unit, I am updating this review with the new information. I have removed one star because, though it's the same model, the new unit has four 2.0GHz cores and four 1.5GHz cores, rather than eight 2.0 GHz cores as found in the earlier model. This is not reflected anywhere in the details. It may be more power-efficient, but it's certainly not as performant. I have removed a second star because, though it's the same model, the new unit has a cheaper display that produces yellowish whites, instead of clean whites. Side-by-side, there's no doubt the display in the newer unit has been swapped for one of lower quality. Both of these changes are hidden from the buyer, but carry the reviews from the earlier version of the product. I no longer recommend this product. _________________________________________________________________ Concerning the device's intended usage, there's no question that it does a great job. As a media device, it's fantastic! The audio is clean and clear, and the video, even in smaller formats, looks great due to the quality display and small size. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have both been very stable, and with both being modern versions, there's some future-proofing here, too. Expandable storage is a huge win, too. Remember when phones had that? While the stock apps were okay, I removed most of the default apps and loaded my favorites, which made it feel more "comfortable." Some people are getting confused by these devices, so here are a few tips: * Make sure it's set to the correct time zone, as the default is China. * Turn off the auto-shutdown, as the default is ten minutes (device for kids, remember?). * Reboot after uninstalling apps and installing new apps. Pros: It has a real audio out! Android 13, so modern apps work great! Super compact The speaker is quite loud Great battery life Charges very quickly Includes earbuds, case, screen protector, and a charging cable Cons: * There does not appear to be an app drawer, but I installed Nova Launcher, and that works great. * The Android build is a little stripped down, but there's a good side to that, too. * Will there be security updates? Overall: I'm currently using this little device as a handy bench tool and also as a field tool for various applications where I don't want to tie up my phone, or instead need something compact to fit into kits. Whether I need to test the functionality of a media device, or I need to program radio gear over Bluetooth, or I need to monitor my Jeep's vitals via OBD2, this little Android has been a solid win. I will be paying attention to this "new" class of hardware in the future because the applications are almost endless. Read more
