I absolutely love this glass chair mat. It is a massive upgrade over the standard plastic ones. The tempered glass is extremely sturdy and feels solid, easily supporting over 200lbs without any flexing. My chair rolls so effortlessly across the surface that it actually took a little getting used to because it was so smooth! It lays perfectly flat on my carpet with no buckling or curling, and stays securely in place. The clear design looks very clean and modern. It arrived well-packaged and intact. After a couple of months of use, there are absolutely no signs of scratching or scuffing. It feels much more durable than vinyl or wood alternatives. Just be aware that the thickness does create a small "bump" when rolling off the mat, and round sizes might feel a bit small if you tend to roll around widely. It seemed like a good product before putting it into use. It is as described, 45 inches in circumference and made of tempered glass. The problem is that the glass's height creates a lip that's easy to roll off, and you have to pick the chair up to get it back on. Additionally, even on a standard desk, it can't reach the feet area well enough to protect the floor. Though it's easy to clean with a damp mop, it hasn't been scratched surprisingly. It's just not practical unless you have more of a table it can easily go under, and for light use. There are better choices out there for your money. Read more

I got this for my office, which has hardwood floors, and I have a rolling chair. I was looking for a floor protector that would be sturdy enough to prevent scratches but smooth enough that it was still going to allow me to roll around easily. This mat does exactly that. I know the title says this is a "Desk Chair Mat for Carpet," but it works perfectly on my hardwood floor. It's impressively heavy-duty. The 1/5" thickness is very substantial, and it feels much more durable than those flimsy, thin plastic mats. It lays flat and doesn't buckle. The 1500lb capacity is probably overkill for a chair, but it speaks to the high-quality, rigid material. The clear finish is great, as it lets the look of the hardwood floor come through. Antok 39" x 39" Chair Mats for Carpet Year after year I've bought those vinyl mats for my carpet. With the little nubs on the bottom. The chair leaves indents, the nubs don't prevent the mat from creeping. No more! This glass "mat" is wonderful. The chair glides easily. The glass seems super strong. I've walked and rolled the chair to the edges with no issues. There's no reason to believe that this won't last forever! Only warning I have is that if you're used to the chair being a struggle to move, you may find yourself flying into the desk when you schooch up! So - about $50 for a crummy vinyl mat? Or $85 for this one? Doesn't seem like much of a question to me. The 39" circle is just about right for me. Personally, I wouldn't go smaller. A few inches larger would be great, but this size comfortably does the job. I wish I had gotten one of these a few years ago, but, in the past, the glass mats haven't been indicated for carpet.
